  3. I found a photo of my old F3 this morning, I put a 15 T gearbox sprocket on it, got a speeding ticket the second day I got it
  4. Even after “shopping” for a better forecast (former Army Aviator- i looked for any half way good forecast to fly VFR vs IFR…) the weather looks like a washout. At least for me it does. Hopefully next year…. AL
  5. Enjoying the 92 F2 CBR, I must say, even it's a bike made for the masses, it's a joy to ride! Good looking and powerful enough for me. Some might say a in line four is boring, maybe but still has it's charm, just my 2cent through

    Anything goes!

  7. So plugged my laptop in to rapid bike this morning, as bike was running warm last Wednesday on the way to the ferry on motorway in 25c temps. Turns out I'd set the MTB to run 14.4:1 AFR & was running it on E10, it was fine when I swapped to E5 for the rest of the trip. It managed just over 50mpg, but was a bit sluggish to accelerate in high gear low revs, then I discovered the accelerator pump function was switched off 😞 That's what happens when you forget to finish some testing & then prep bike in a hurry.
  8. Would it be possible to replace the VTEC lifters on a 6gen with normal lifters (buckets with shims) from the normal valves? The idea is to enable all 4 valves per cylinder (disabled VTEC) and make it easier/cheaper to adjust the clearances in the future.
  9. 2. I checked wiring at the fuse holder. Wire and connector were overheated. Unfortunately I did not find another one-pin connector, so I soldering wires instead connector (I used Sn96,5 Ag3.0 Cu0.5 solder. It is more corrosion resistant solder and have melting point at 240C). As a result bike becomes start ta each time even with old battery! Appeared a new problem - charging voltage. The charging voltage became 14.9V without load on working engine (headlights are OFF) and 15.14V under load (all headlights are ON). It is not a mistake, under load voltage is higher. I can't explain it. I think the voltage regulator takes wrong voltage feedback. I decided to check alternator. It was burned too. Today I will try to find a new connector for alternator. I checked coils of alternator, they are 0.7-0.8 Ohm, I think It's OK. And no contact to ground. On working engine without voltage regulator, alternator generates 22V on each coil. 4. I measured voltage on black/white (B12) wire on ECM. All measurements were with switched OFF voltage regulator. The ground I took on negative terminal of battery. I measured voltage near the Light Gray connector. When engine stops: voltage on battery is 12.57V, voltage on black/white wire is 12.45V (drops 0.12V) When engine works: voltage on battery is 12.27V, voltage on black/white wire is 11.87V (drops 0.4V) Is it normal? I measured resistance on green wire (B14). The resistance was 0.2Ohm. I measured on negative terminal of battery and green wire (B14). During the measurement process I found blue wire, that absent at all my schemas of bike (I have 5 different schemas from the internet). It was soldering to white/black (B12) wire. What wire is it? Can you give me the scheme, contains this wire? Today I want to check ground connector under the fuel tank on the left side near the engine. Also I want to explore all wires and connectors with IR camera.

  11. What the Captain said. Your question is too vague to answer. I've had Shinko Podiums on a lightweight 400cc sport bike only last 3500 miles to Ravens on a VFR800 make it to 10,000 miles. What series tire is it?
  12. Shinko makes everything from scooter tires to race slicks.
  13. I have received the green ones but i still want the red ones to have all options at the ready! What's the way forward you think?
  14. Threw a set on yesterday. Anyone ever used them before? What kind of mileage should I expect?
  15. I called today, the woman I spoke to confirmed they have these in stock. She advised that there is a discount code on the website. I tried to order via the website, but the part is not "clickable", so could not add to cart to determine final price...
  16. ???? OK so you located the 2P Pair Valve connector. Then I think you are referring to the MAP Sensor which most definitely has its own vaccum hose! Idle speed at start up is certainly effected by amibient temp, there can be quite a difference between cold start on a cold day, and cold start on a hot day. Glad you located the cause of the clicking noise. Pair System operational or not has no effect on performance, it's all about emissions. Sounds like the float may be a little out of wack. Up to you wether you feel the need to slightly bend the float shaft to compensate. Have you done any real economy runs? Fill to a known point eg fill rim go for a long ride refill to the same point, note the fuel quantity then do the sums. Do some forum searching on Pair Valve removal, you could go down that path, or replace the valve, or leave as is, as there is no performance degradation with or without the system, whether it upsets the O2 sensors and A/F ratio calculations I'm not too sure. I've never bothered disabling the system.
  17. Hi Grum Just to confirm on my 2007 bike, the Pair Solenoid Valve 2P Natural Connector is white and the other block connected and just above it which clips on to the rear of the airbox and has a small rubber pipe connected to the bottom of it is grey (unlabeled on the diagram above). Disconnected the Pair Solenoid Valve 2P Natural Connector and the clicking noise is no more. Bike still runs with no noticable difference in performance. On initial start up it instantly went to 2k revs, which is different to the previous start ups, when used to take 10 secs. Coincidence or warmer weather or pair disconnection caused this? I filled up with petrol to the top, touching rim, at the petrol station and within 1 mile it was already down a bar on the gauge, I noticed some markings on the float in the tank but is this adjustable at all or should I just leave it. I remember on my old bike always trying to get 100miles before hitting half a tank which I think won't be possible on this. Should I just leave the pair connector disconnected now?
  18. I am having some grief with the neutral switch on my ST1300 at present. The neutral switch completes the ground path so that the starter solenoid will be energised when you press the starter button, and you get the neutral light In neutral, you should have continuity to ground. The light green wire from the neutral switch terminates at the centre leg of the clutch diode; I confess I'm not sure where that lives on the VFR, on my ST it is in the fusebox and looks like a slightly oversized black fuse with 3 terminals. If you can put a jumper from ground to the centre post of the diode you will be simulating the neutral switch working. I have attached a hi-res wiring diagram which shows the 6P connector you are referring to (although 6 wires go in and only 5 come out). The other wires are blue/red to oil pressure switch, and the remaining three (Y/Bu, G/O and G/Bu) go to the engine coolant sensor on the back of the front head. The missing 6th wire (G/Bl) is a common earth. VFR hi res.pdf
  19. I think the 2011 that was sold here was about the best 6th gen colours (aside from the US Anniversary model): Red body, black frame and forks, gold wheels.
  20. I’m selling my ‘98 VFR. $4,500. Price negotiable. Cash in hand prior to test ride. Central Montana Bought bike with items installed: helibars, three-color LED voltmeter, heated grips with toggle switch. Computer fan installed onto R/R. Corbin seats. OEM seat. OEM muffler. One of the previous owners painted this ugly gray triangle on the fairing and onto the tank. Changes I made: I just finished painting the wheels white. Added 10,000 miles in 9 years of ownership. Installed new Givi D200S touring screen. Installed new Givi side and rear top case mounts. Received used E-21 Givi side cases as gifts. Had keys made to fit Givi cases. Motion pro magnetic oil drain plug, Motion Pro washer-shaped magnet installed inside oil filter. I replaced the front axle bearing grease seals. I changed out the improper green antifreeze/coolant to Hondas correct type 2 blue coolant with distilled water. LED headlight bulbs, but think the incandescent bulbs are a better option. Bike comes with: rear seat cowl. I never did receive original grab handles from previous owner. He didn’t get them either. Clymer Service manual. Incandescent light bulbs. OEM windscreen. One of the previous owners painted the inboard side of the windscreen black. Spare rear brake pedal lever. Air filter adapter plate. Never changed the sprockets or chain. Installed a new air filter, but bike had a K&N installed when I bought it. placing this ad on vfr world as well and probably on Craigslist too.
  21. 21 years this group has called me Al. 😂 When I first signed onto VFRD I took VTEC and AL ( I lived in Alabama at the time), hence VTECAL as a screen name. Erich (AL) If you'll be my bodyguard I can be your long lost pal I can call you Betty And Betty, when you call me, you can call me Al -Paul Simon
  22. I tried to call Friday but they were closed. And then I forgot... I'll try again later this week.
  23. Last week
  24. Got the motor 🏃‍♀️ 20240514_211509.mp4 this evening. Ran on 3 1/2 cylinders no 2 slide not lifting will look at is sometime next week 20240514_211509.mp4
  25. Yup, got a well-worn ‘stitch. But, I just don’t enjoy traveling to a destination anymore only to ride in the rain.

      Juniper Pass

I took a day off from work and also from my bicycle training to take out the Veefalo one last time before the weather turns ugly, supposed to snow the rest of the week and possibly start sticking to the ground along the Colorado Front Range. I took a leisurely pace up hwy 105 toward Morrison and got reacquainted with the bike since its been over a month since I took any sort of twisties on it at all, hwy 105 is a scenic ride along the front range between Denver and Colorado Springs, its mostly easy fast sweepers and lite traffic so its a favorite road of mine when going north. Then I have to negotiate a bit of traffic near Highlands ranch and up hwy 470 into the mountains. I decided to take the Morrison Exit and try either Lookout Mountain or head up Golden Gate Canyon - this time it was Lookout Mountain, I was sort of making it up on the fly as I went along. Lookout Mountain is my old bicycling haunt from my days while I was working at Coors, its a killer ride and all uphill - I don't think I could do it today If I had to, not quite there yet! I saw a whole bunch of riders doing it though and wished I was in shape enough to be there doing it as well. 30 more lbs and I will be able to do it! On this day I would do it on the Veefalo instead.

I took a video from the gateway to the top at the Lookout Mountain State Park, getting past riders, the guy in the green jacket actually pretty much astounded me with how far he had gotten in the short time it took me to set up my camera, some 3 miles at least and up to the gateway from the turn off at hwy 6! Amazing I thought. I took the first two turns slow then got more comfortable as I went up further, till I was doing well, I made some gearing mistakes and took the tight 15mph marked hairpins in the wrong gear so I lugged it a bit on one or two. Still enjoyed it though and then got off at the top and hiked over a rock outcropping for an overview of the road for the pictures below.

From there I headed up interstate 70 to Idaho Springs for a beer at the Tommy-knockers brewery, I was the only customer in the joint - slow day for them so they treated me like a king! I got a nice tour of the place sort of impromptu, they made me a nice Pastrami sandwich on rye and with the brown ale it was fantastic. I must say the beer is much better there than in the bottles - its always good at the brewery. I am glad I stopped

I finished my lunch and since the road to Mount Evans is right there I headed up Squaw pass hoping to get in some nice pictures I wasn't expecting what I found, ICE IN ALL THE SHADY PARTS

      gallery_491_3463_419309.png

Icy patches on Squaw Pass definitely taking it easy on that road

There were some section where the ice covered the whole road for 300 yards or so I had to roll through it with my legs out to help keep the bike from sliding and falling over, I took it real slow. A Ford pickup was right behind me so I pulled over to let him pass but the guy was going slower then even I was so I pressed on - in places where I could see I just cut over to the oncoming lane and out of the ice where the sun was shining on the road more, but some places there was not alternative so I just had to go slow, good thing it wasn't slick but rather they tossed some gravel over the worst parts so I had some traction!

I did stop for pictures in all the best spots

Not that it matters and not that I expect anyone had noticed, but to those who sent me "where are you?" I would like to say I am back. Not only that I am officially returning to VFRD after nearly 2 months break but I have also ridden my Hawk last weekend and had FUN! Let me restate that; I had major fun riding! Something I have almost given up on.

Most of you have been riding your whole adult lives and riding is not only a hobby to you, it is part of you. But I started riding three years ago and even though I have encounter some setbacks, till this spring I loved riding with whole my heart. However, I have always considered riding as my hobby. As a hobby which suppose to make my life better, more fun and more rich. Life is too short to do something which we don't fully love.

My love of riding received a first major scar this spring: I lost a friend on the racetrack. He was a total stranger who offered me his help after I lowsided at CMP track last year. I still remember hearing his "Hi, my name is Todd, do you need help?" while I was duct-taping my roadrash from ripped jacket. He helped me straighten up the shifter and we kept in touch. The next time we saw each other was the day he died.

With 9 months delay, I can say that Todd's death shook me more than I have realized. It rooted fear in me which was fueled by seeing and hearing about others getting hurt over and over again. If I was to summarize this year - it would be one big accident report. I became sensitive to every broken bone, every roadrash, every lowside. And even though I did 10 track days this year, I became slower and slower and slower. Suddenly, I have acquired this 'grandma' riding style on the road, frozen with fear that behind every corner there is car standing in my lane, or major sand trap or deer staring at me ... I was crippled with fear not only for me about also for my fellow rider.

So, at the end of this year, I rode more and more by myself. I could not bear the feelings of responsibility for others on the road and my lines were crippled by my own fears. It all culminated this fall at WDGAH. In a freaky accident Love2rideh82crash was taken down by a truck crossing into our lane. I was done. I finished the weekend, locked the VFR into a garage and took a break.

Until the last weekend, I pretended that motorcycles do not exists. As a last instance after 2 months break from riding, I decided to go to CMP track to see if I can still have fun. I also felt like I should go for the memory of Todd. I went and I had fun! I had much more fun than I expected and the most fun on track I can remember. Suddenly the whole track connected into an uninterupted line of turns and I felt one with the bike riding around! I was giggling like a little girl in my helmet and keep on giggling ever since smile.gif

Granted I was not the fastest one and through out the weekend, I have never exceeded about 60% of my riding abilities, but I had no "oh-shit" nor 'blond' moments. I could have maybe go faster, I could have brake later for the turns and I could have lean further, but I am no Rossi nor Stoner. I decided to ride for fun and I had amazing blast riding well within my comfort zone.

I was proud of myself when, after bandaging Ricks arm, I was able to distance myself and go back to riding without the year-long fear. I did feel bad for him but the feelings were not crippling my lines nor my mind. And when a total stranger came to me and said "Hi, my name is Todd", my heart stopped for a minute though but I suddenly knew that my life went a full circle. I probably will never win MotoGP :idea3: , but I am back! :wheel:
