  2. Hi Tom. You do have the Service Manual I assume? PAIR valve is the Green Arrow, follow its wire to a 2P connector which you should be able to unplug.

  4. I'm sure they can be made to work. Wiring will just require connecting the right stuff and same 7/8" handlebars so should be possible to physically fit them. However, both those tasks may require some thought and modification to make fit. I doubt it will be simply plug and play, but I see no reason why they cannot be made to work.
  5. Small update. Fitted a new clamp around the exhaust join pipes. Started Bike with tank lifted. It would not make the clicking/pop sound. So checked all the hoses and electrical connections associated with the airbox. No problems there that I could see. Went for a ride, could hear the click/pop sound within 5 mins when riding slow and giving slow smooth throttle. Did another 40 miles, bike performed well. Down to 3 bars on the petrol gauge. So now I may try disconnecting the pair connector - is it the larger grey at the rear of the air box or the smaller whiter connector that's also connected to the grey connector?
  6. It’s highly possible that it’s supposed to be solid red but looks pinkish lol I just probed the solid red wire. 12v with ignition off so you are correct. Yes, red lead to battery positive probing the black/brown wire with ignition on with no beans. ordering an ECM right now! I will update once it arrives. THANK YOU

  8. I never had the opportunity to ride an RC45, but I did buy an NC35, so I can pretend... Never mounted them, but I have a set of the (TSR?) double-sided kevlar exhausts (which I prefer aesthetically over the double-barrels), which I will definitely fit "someday"... Ciao, JZH

  10. I'm trying to add heated grips to my 2010 VFR 1200 is there a technical reason you can't use a newer (more available) OEM Honda heated grip? The Africa twin 2016 OEM heated grips are available and look to have the same hookup for throttle cable and dimensions unless I'm mistaken, the part in uncertain of is it possible? I'm sure the plug itself is unlikely to simply work but that's an easy enough fix, any help would be appreciated
  11. Are you sure that's a Pink wire? Not a solid Red wire? I don't think it's the Pink wire and your Ignition Switch configuration is like the attached drawing. Grab your meter and probe that Pink looking Red wire see if it has 12v on it with Ignition to OFF. If it has, then it's the hot 12v from Main Fuse A 30amp. "the black/brown wire has nothing at switch on with kill switch on." And you had the Red meter lead on battery Positive while measuring the Black/brown wire, Yes? That be the case then Yes, all appears to point to your ECM being dead.
  12. I have the pink wire. both black/white wires have 12v at switch on. the black/brown wire has nothing at switch on with kill switch on. sounds like I need an ECM?

  14. Hi Tom. Unplug the PAIR Solenoid electrical connector located at the rear of the airbox housing. Does the popping stop? Also, make sure its air hose is fitted to the rear of the airbox. With regards to fuel economy. What fuel are you using? Avoid Ethanol blended fuel if you can, you will get less tank range if you use Ethanol fuels, appart from its other bad effects!
  15. Don't forget the fuel gauge is an indicator not a measurement. You've probably noticed how any fuel gauge seems to slowly go down from full to half and the next half goes down faster still. It's because of the shape of the tank whether on a bike or car. Longer journey required and accurate fuel measurement from pump needed to get your sfc
  16. Hi Presson from memory I used to get around 180 miles to a tank on my 2002, so to only get 44 miles from half a tank on this first ride is a bit concerning. I opened the fuel cap and the petrol was around 3 inches below the opening height so it looks like the dial being at 4 of 8 bars (half full) should be right. Obviously I’ll need to do some longer trips to see how the fuel consumption is going. Bike doesn’t smell like it’s running rich. the air box etc is all standard, no flapper mod and no pair mod, I’ve had the airbox on and off a few times while doing the works listed in the posts above so maybe there’s a hose I’ve not reconnected right that’s causing the popping/click sound? the oil is just what came in the bike, but service history shows it was changed 3k miles ago, 9 months ago. I will change the oil and filter next week now I know the bike has no major mechanical problems having ridden it
  17. Hi Tom. I really would not worry about the 10sec response on the 'wax unit' as it has to respond to the temp it experiences. The bike sounds like it warms up properly and then holds a stable idle rpm once warm which is the outcome you need. You might want to check the correct idle though as 1100 is a little low. On mpg, I am no expert. The 8 Gen will do nearly 60mpg if ridden frugally but from memory my earlier V4 wanted to drink at about 45 mpg. You didn't really say what you were getting. On the popping/ clicking, has it had the pair and flapper mod? Make sure the disconnected vacuum hoses are plugged if it has. Other than that you need others to advise. You say oil looks brown. Did you change it and the filter. Clutch basket rattle? No ideas

Well, eventually the FJ is not running as should, and even seems to ride a bit better at times decided I needed to pull carbs off to check, as aside the diagram issue it did run great 2 years back So decided to try the XT350 Did take it to work this Friday, Fortnite a short ride. Well a issue came up. First the front brake is not as good as should, second as I did go on lunch noticed something has leaked under it, turn's out the oil filter cap is leaking for some reason. Have to check out why. It hade been sealed whit some silicone aside the O ring before, have to look into reason. Hopefully nothing major. Might try fresh brake pads for the front brake. A one more thing, a secondhand OEM silencer in on the way for the Bandit 600

  20. Finally got out on the bike! Had been sat for 13 days I think, it started first time, idles at 1100 for around 10 seconds, then goes up to 2000 for around 4 mins before settling at 1100. So not sure if the wax unit should be a bit more quicker to raise the revs to 2000 than the 10 seconds it takes. On the ride everything seemed to work well, remember this was my first ride out on it. Could potentially be using too much fuel, did 44 miles and the tank went from an indicated 7/8 down to half. The tank was full (not brimmed) at the start of the ride. The exhaust connection clamp which is down near the bottom of the rear wheel and center stand stop, broke, was rusty, so need to find a replacement, looks to be around 60mm diameter but will measure properly once engine cooled. Also have a weird popping/click sound like when you click your tongue in your mouth to make an echo that happens when revving at low revs, whether pulling off in gear, or in neutral stood still. Will try to attach video taken. Is it some sort of air valve or vacuum pipe opening and closing? Oil level once back was on the high side and same brown colour, which I find surprising after supposedly only 3k miles. No white substance as it's all been mixed thru but will check tomorrow. Clutch on start up is still rattly I assume until oil has worked its way around the engine. Noise goes when pulling clutch lever in. So overall, glad it ran, but have a few niggles to look into.

    Wish I could join you all for the event. As it happens, I'll be traveling through NC that weekend on my way to FL, but in the car with my wife, and not on my motorcycle. I'm hoping to get down to that region later this summer or early fall. Have fun and ride safe, everyone! 🙂

  25. ?? Are you referring to the Green/Orange and the Light Green wires of the TPS? You've already confirmed the Green/Orange is good to the ECM and all Grounds are good. You've stated the Light Green wire has good continuity to the ECM. Being the TPS Signal to the ECM it shouldn't have continuity to the negative terminal. Are you probing the Light Green TPS to either of the other two and seeing resistance changes as you open and close the throttle, do this with theTPS plug disconnected and probing the terminals on the TPS not the wire harness? If the resistance was so bad you would probably have a active fault code. MAP sensor is a Voltage device, a pressure to voltage transducer! Refer Service Manual for MAP checks. Note - MAP and BARO are the same part numbers and can be swapped over for fault finding. Do you have a MAP fault code? Have you removed number 2 SV and tried cleaning with compressed air? Refer Service Manual. Cylinder 2 also feeds vacuum to the Secondary Air Intake system (flapper valve) if the system has been disabled make sure the vac hose for this is blocked off. 3 and 4 provide vacuum to the FPR Fuel Pressure Regulator. Make sure the FPR has no fuel leakage into the vacuum hose and no dripping fuel from the FPR vacuum connection any fuel leak = ruptured diaphragm. Closely inspect all vacuum hoses for cracks or damage and properly connected. Make sure the throttle body boots are tight not cracked or leaky. Good Luck

  27. I’ve come back with some responses: 1. Voltage Checks: - Verified that the **TPS**, **Baro**, and **MAP sensors** have a **5V Vcc voltage** on the Pink wire, so voltage is consistent across these sensors. - Confirmed that the TPS has a **Signal Ground** through the ECM on the Green/Orange wire, and checked that all ECM Grounds (B1 Green wire, A9, and A20 Green/Pink wires) have good continuity back to the Battery Negative terminal. 2. Continuity Tests: - Checked the continuity of the **Light Green wire** (TPS Signal to ECM) and found no continuity with the negative terminal. - Neither the Orange/Green nor the Green wires had continuity with the negative or chassis, not sure if this is normal or not. 3. Grounding and Resistance: - All three wires (B1, A9, A20) have continuity with the battery's negative pole. - The Green/Orange wire has good continuity with B2. - The TPS signal to ECM wire (Light Green) has good continuity with B14. - The Pink, Green, and Green/Orange wires have good continuity to the ECM. 4. Sensor Resistance: - Attempted to verify the resistance in the TPS sensor but couldn't read any values, possible faulty TPS? - Similarly, couldn't measure any values for the MAP sensor resistance, which may indicate an issue with the voltmeter or the sensor itself. Is this normal or I’m missing something? 5. Throttle Valve Synchronization Issue: - Initially, cylinder number 2 could not be synchronized, as adjusting the screw only decreased the vacuum without improvement. - After attempting to synchronize the throttle valves as you’ve recommended, the same issue occurred with cylinders 3 and 4, unable to achieve a vacuum higher than 2.1 cmHg, which is the same as the reference cylinder 1. So I’m thinking of any possible leak

      I took a day off from work and also from my bicycle training to take out the Veefalo one last time before the weather turns ugly, supposed to snow the rest of the week and possibly start sticking to the ground along the Colorado Front Range. I took a leisurely pace up hwy 105 toward Morrison and got reacquainted with the bike since its been over a month since I took any sort of twisties on it at all, hwy 105 is a scenic ride along the front range between Denver and Colorado Springs, its mostly easy fast sweepers and lite traffic so its a favorite road of mine when going north. Then I have to negotiate a bit of traffic near Highlands ranch and up hwy 470 into the mountains. I decided to take the Morrison Exit and try either Lookout Mountain or head up Golden Gate Canyon - this time it was Lookout Mountain, I was sort of making it up on the fly as I went along. Lookout Mountain is my old bicycling haunt from my days while I was working at Coors, its a killer ride and all uphill - I don't think I could do it today If I had to, not quite there yet! I saw a whole bunch of riders doing it though and wished I was in shape enough to be there doing it as well. 30 more lbs and I will be able to do it! On this day I would do it on the Veefalo instead.

       

       

       

       

      I took a video from the gateway to the top at the Lookout Mountain State Park, getting past riders, the guy in the green jacket actually pretty much astounded me with how far he had gotten in the short time it took me to set up my camera, some 3 miles at least and up to the gateway from the turn off at hwy 6! Amazing I thought. I took the first two turns slow then got more comfortable as I went up further, till I was doing well, I made some gearing mistakes and took the tight 15mph marked hairpins in the wrong gear so I lugged it a bit on one or two. Still enjoyed it though and then got off at the top and hiked over a rock outcropping for an overview of the road for the pictures below.

      From there I headed up interstate 70 to Idaho Springs for a beer at the Tommy-knockers brewery, I was the only customer in the joint - slow day for them so they treated me like a king! I got a nice tour of the place sort of impromptu, they made me a nice Pastrami sandwich on rye and with the brown ale it was fantastic. I must say the beer is much better there than in the bottles - its always good at the brewery. I am glad I stopped

      I finished my lunch and since the road to Mount Evans is right there I headed up Squaw pass hoping to get in some nice pictures I wasn't expecting what I found, ICE IN ALL THE SHADY PARTS

      There were some section where the ice covered the whole road for 300 yards or so I had to roll through it with my legs out to help keep the bike from sliding and falling over, I took it real slow. A Ford pickup was right behind me so I pulled over to let him pass but the guy was going slower then even I was so I pressed on - in places where I could see I just cut over to the oncoming lane and out of the ice where the sun was shining on the road more, but some places there was not alternative so I just had to go slow, good thing it wasn't slick but rather they tossed some gravel over the worst parts so I had some traction!

      I did stop for pictures in all the best spots

      Not that it matters and not that I expect anyone had noticed, but to those who sent me "where are you?" I would like to say I am back. Not only that I am officially returning to VFRD after nearly 2 months break but I have also ridden my Hawk last weekend and had FUN! Let me restate that; I had major fun riding! Something I have almost given up on.

      Most of you have been riding your whole adult lives and riding is not only a hobby to you, it is part of you. But I started riding three years ago and even though I have encounter some setbacks, till this spring I loved riding with whole my heart. However, I have always considered riding as my hobby. As a hobby which suppose to make my life better, more fun and more rich. Life is too short to do something which we don't fully love.

      My love of riding received a first major scar this spring: I lost a friend on the racetrack. He was a total stranger who offered me his help after I lowsided at CMP track last year. I still remember hearing his "Hi, my name is Todd, do you need help?" while I was duct-taping my roadrash from ripped jacket. He helped me straighten up the shifter and we kept in touch. The next time we saw each other was the day he died.

      With 9 months delay, I can say that Todd's death shook me more than I have realized. It rooted fear in me which was fueled by seeing and hearing about others getting hurt over and over again. If I was to summarize this year - it would be one big accident report. I became sensitive to every broken bone, every roadrash, every lowside. And even though I did 10 track days this year, I became slower and slower and slower. Suddenly, I have acquired this 'grandma' riding style on the road, frozen with fear that behind every corner there is car standing in my lane, or major sand trap or deer staring at me ... I was crippled with fear not only for me about also for my fellow rider.

      So, at the end of this year, I rode more and more by myself. I could not bear the feelings of responsibility for others on the road and my lines were crippled by my own fears. It all culminated this fall at WDGAH. In a freaky accident Love2rideh82crash was taken down by a truck crossing into our lane. I was done. I finished the weekend, locked the VFR into a garage and took a break.

      Until the last weekend, I pretended that motorcycles do not exists. As a last instance after 2 months break from riding, I decided to go to CMP track to see if I can still have fun. I also felt like I should go for the memory of Todd. I went and I had fun! I had much more fun than I expected and the most fun on track I can remember. Suddenly the whole track connected into an uninterupted line of turns and I felt one with the bike riding around! I was giggling like a little girl in my helmet and keep on giggling ever since smile.gif

      Granted I was not the fastest one and through out the weekend, I have never exceeded about 60% of my riding abilities, but I had no "oh-shit" nor 'blond' moments. I could have maybe go faster, I could have brake later for the turns and I could have lean further, but I am no Rossi nor Stoner. I decided to ride for fun and I had amazing blast riding well within my comfort zone.

      I was proud of myself when, after bandaging Ricks arm, I was able to distance myself and go back to riding without the year-long fear. I did feel bad for him but the feelings were not crippling my lines nor my mind. And when a total stranger came to me and said "Hi, my name is Todd", my heart stopped for a minute though but I suddenly knew that my life went a full circle. I probably will never win MotoGP :idea3: , but I am back! :wheel:
