Motul 10-40, the big (about) one gallon for sport and adventure. Item P1150370 on RevZilla. Cycle gear guy said little diff between others. Ought I just get a new clutch pack? I was already in there last week to check the pushrod, the hydraulic system seems to be working fine. I did NOT, however, check the slave cylinder. Possibly gunked up? If so, why would it resolve itself after 15 minutes? I spent the ride home from school doing pulls on back roads, no slipping once it's hot. No clue.

I agree. If you're gonna call it a RC30 "Replica", then it should be that basic scheme and colors. If you're gonna call it a Factory HRC Race Bike Tribute, then go sick with something else. Take some of your favorite elements and make it yours. And over which winter? I feel like we're being set-up. Your info on the left says you already have one.

13.7 - 13.8v is not enough at around 5k rpm. You couldhave a problem with your charging circuit. First thing is to check the major connectors for corrosion. If that doesn't help, then you may be looking at a r/r replacement. Download the manual from the downloads section here and do the checks.
-
What oil are you using? Motorcycle specific or a general automotive ( ie: car biased) oil. The latter have additives that can cause clutch slip issues in motorcycles.
-
Surely it's got to be the standard factory RC30 colours?

Thank you Burger and Worfje! I knew I had seen a reference to a screen somewhere that apparently does not show in the schematics. I, for some reason, assumed it was in the rear of the bike as it involved the rear brake. My lack of familiarity with linked brakes was on full display here. Before I posted, I looked here, at my service manual and on CMSNL at diagrams for the rear MC and the PCV, and found nothing.........because there was nothing to be found. Thanks for the heads up and detailed info. I'm thinking that because my problem was declining braking from the rear, and the fact it spins freely in neutral, that the front SMC is not the issue, probably just a caliper service will do. Doesn't mean I won't be looking at my newest service item though.🙂 Looking back I did virtually all my riding, 12.5K, in early May and late Sept into mid Oct last year in less than ideal conditions. Pretty sure that's a contributing factor. Cheers guys, much appreciated.

Tyga Performance RC30 conversion kit for 4th Gen
Gazzaboo replied to The Phantom's topic in Third and Fourth Generation VFR's
Hi guys new to the forum I’ve been building one over winter now I just can’t make up my mind on colour scheme -
Hi guys new to the forum and Vfr’s i thought I’d build myself a RC30 tribute bike for something to do over winter just can’t make up my mind on colour scheme what do you guys like to see

Thank you! However, mine is a different issue it would seem; it only slips in the first 15-20 minutes of riding, pulls in 2nd are fine once it gets to a certain point. Figured I'd check anyway, my master cylinder seems fine (I did flush just a few weeks ago). Thoughts?

If there is ever any question on a battery's condition... throw it on a charger until the charger says it's done. Take said battery to any auto parts (or Batteries Plus) and have them load test it.
-
The suggestion given was a test you could do 'now', since assuming the battery is so new and probably not the culprit and neither damaged. Burnt out headlights... coincidence? No, I think not, a failing RR (regulator/rectifier) can easily result in overvoltage. Be warned, overvoltage is much more damaging in regard to undervoltage regarding all other parts of the bike. You can probably send back your last acquired battery...
-
I checked it when I got the new battery af ew weeks ago. It was showing 13.7-13.8 at mid-rpm. I figured that was OK. Another tidbit. Both of my headlights are burnt out. I thought it was just a coincidence, but now I'm wondering if something funky is going on in the headlight circuit. And thoughts? Btw. I'm getting a new battery in a few days and I'll do the checks and the "drill."

Sounds like your rear caliper and/or rear brake master cilinder is in need of the service you have planned. Since, it has 3 pistons of which 2 are operated directly by the rear brake lever (and I assume should always work properly independently of the state of the other parts of the DCBS system, if not extreme). I also assume you are referring to this little gremlin (which sits in the front secondary master cylinder): (found here) Have a look here on the DCBS braking system:
-
are you perhaps thinking of the screen in the secondary master?
-
I noticed my rear brake gradually began to be less effective as the season went on. By my last trip it was barely there. I had flushed the entire system in Sept. of 2024 and all was fine. I had planned on servicing all the calipers this Spring, so I have all my parts. But, in the back of my mind I remember seeing something about cleaning a screen in the rear system. Is this applicable to the 5th Gens, and if so is it in the PCV unit? Its my first linked brakes bike, so I'm not up to speed on all the best practices yet. Thanks, Michael

Interchangeable Parts With Other Honda Bikes
FromMaine replied to orener's topic in Eighth Generation VFR's
Not an OEM Honda part, but an aftermarket mid pipe for an 8th Gen VFR will fit a 5th Gen allowing you to fit most any 50mm slip on muffler. Wouldn't say its precise, but it was no more difficult than fitting any aftermarket exhaust. Stock length of the pipe made my TB about 2" longer than when it was fitted to my 4th Gen, but I left it rather than shorten it as I pretty much always have saddlebags on the bike. -

Interchangeable Parts With Other Honda Bikes
Morados replied to orener's topic in Eighth Generation VFR's
I can confirm that the front fender from the CBR1000R fit the Gen 8 VFR, I got myself a forged carbon for the CBR and it fits with a little struggle as it is a very tight fit - Last week

Color scheme is a copy of HRC Works RVF racers combined colors and graphics to provide a muscular character... I understand it doesn't appeal to everyone... however it does appeal to the young at heart...

I had some luck via Ebay buying a 'Denso PR-10 3201' which looks identical to 16740-P8A-M01 and is expected to be 3.0bar. Some searches on 16740-P8A-M01 confirmed that this items is indeed engraved Denso PR-10 3201. Another alternative for 3.0 bar (next to the earlier noted DS Group 11142A) is Delphi FP10508.

Oops. I do believe I know how to post YT videos or they wouldn't be on YT. However I may have screwed up copying the link to the playlist. Thanks for the helpful comment. -
I think that you might not know how to post videos. You're in your YT studio in these links. You need the link to the actual video.
