Looks as though Honda Canada and Honda USA have listened to the griping and they will be releasing the VFR800 here as well. :)

For Canada MSRP - $14,499 w/ABS (no non ABS bike offered in Canada from the look of it)

I think the package is perfect. You guys that want the extra 20 pounds of clutter on the bike can pay for it. I want a stripped down light weight Vfr for less, which is exactly what they did. Perfect.

This exactly what they should have done with the 1200. A standard stripped down chain drive vfr1200 sport model and then a deluxe abs, traction control, shaft drive, DCT touring model.

The sport model could weigh 550 pounds or so and the touring 625. They could be called the vf1200f and the vf1200r. I swear the best thing Honda could ever do is hire me.

Honda is scheduled to release (3) NEW 2014 Motorcycles to their 2014 model lineup. The picture below shows what Honda has "under wraps", so as of right now it is all speculation when it comes to exactly what those (3) new models will be for 2014. Guessing what they may or may not be is part of the fun though, right?

I thought there was a topic already on the new 2014 models. They are all different variations on the CTX bikes. Basically, a different version of the DN-01 with the NC700X engine.

In other words, it is like saying they are releasing 3 new bikes, a VFR in red, a VFR in white, and a VFR in Blue. Except even that would be a bit more exciting than this release.

I think Honda's is a little smarter then that. I think they just covered 3 bike none of which are the new bikes.

It will hopefully be next year for me. This years tax return and bonus are already spent = (

I can't believe how many people are complaining about the price. My 1998 had an MSRP of 9.5K, so 13.5K for all the upgrades seems like a bargain. That is only an average increase of 250.00 per year or less than 3%. So when factoring in inflation, it has actually gotten cheaper.

Ah. Crap. Well white is great actually. But my old RWB was a real standout next to a plain one, in my opinion. Subtle color scheme 'sports up' the bike quite a bit, and this new sleaker one would be more fitting to BNG.

It doesnt matter though because I would bet a dime to a donut that it isnt sold in America.

How much are dimes and donuts going for now? :goofy:

What exactly are the upgrades that you perceive? I'll spot you the traction control even though it is not a traction control per se but uses the ABS to prevent wheel slip.

Are you talking about the warmed over 12 year old engine?

The fake Vtech that does nothing like the real Vtech in Honda cars (variable vale timing and lift would be unique)?

I can only think of the fact that in 2014 Honda has finally decided to allow purchasers of the halo model VFR to have the same fork adjsutments of a CBR600F3 from what 20 years ago?

The weight loss is mostly from the alloy rear sub frame (possible now that they are using VFR1200 style bag mounts), the loss of the centerstand and the loss of the second exhaust can that is no longer under the tail.

When you look at the weight of the (YeeHaa) Deluxe model (with centerstand added) it exceeds the 5G weight.

Tell what improvements I am missing. I will let you know in May after my test ride whether the no longer linked brakes are improved or you can look at the published stopping distances from (IIRC) NMotorcyclist and see that the 5G VFR was top 10 all time tested in stopping distance from 60mph.

All that being said, it is still a new VFR and cause for celebration. It will have to be really crappy for me to not continue my 31 year love affair with the bike.

Huge sigh of relief from Mother Honda on that note. :goofy:

Look at it this way, one day you could run out of 5gen's to buy or build and now there will be some newer parts.
