  2. Hi, does anyone have the Honda factory bar risers installed on a 2015 Deluxe? What is your opinion of them do they make a difference on touring? Do they occasionally show up on here for sale?

    Decisions

I have recently freed up some room in the garage and my interest has been piqued by the vfr. However, before I made any purchases I figured I'd come here and ask for advice. My main intention for a vfr will be freeway compatibility, but also not too unwieldy for going around town. This leads me to the 4th and 5th generations. The 5th Gen is fuel injected and to me has seemed more renowned for touring than the 4th. It's also heavier, but I hear weight concerns can be assuaged with a little effort. I personally prefer the look of the 4th Gen, but I'm concerned about the size of the market. One of the reasons I loved my sv is because of how plentiful the market is for parts and upgrades, and I fear a 4th Gen might not provide such liberties (although I hear 5th gens are in a better situation). The purpose of this post is for owners to correct me on anything I got wrong and also tell me about any issues they've found with their respective bikes that I can take into account before buying any bike.
  5. I agree. My FJ1200 was fine. The VFR was much lighter, but hardly heavy to move around, and I'm a lightweight.
  6. So funny to hear people complain about the weight of the vfr, it’s the lightest of my three bikes. Went for a ride yesterday and enjoyed the nimble nature of the vfr. Love those Japanese riders, they have the skills to handle their machines.
  7. Your man in the video used Norma clamps, also consider ABA clamps. Norma (German) and ABA (Swedish) merged in '06 to form the Norma Group. ABA is what you'll find in Volvo's like my 855 T5 M56. In '19 when I installed AS3 silicon hoses on my 5th Gen, I used AS3 Radiator Hose Clips. Made in England by JCS , these Hi-Grip 304 stainless (A2) grips are also used in the difficult to source Samco CK HON-94 kit. A few years ago I bought the Samco CK HON-94 kit from MotoCard in Spain for an ongoing 5th Gen project that's getting Samco silicon hoses . It was only after I got the Samco kit that I learned JCS made the grips for both kits.
  8. I cobbled one together from cbr600rr parts. I had to buy the parts separately and custom make the adjustment rod. It works great!! Let me know if you would like more info. crusty

  10. well i have good news to share: it fits like a glove!
  11. You do need to modify the radiator with a small extra hose going in en out of the Laminova cooler into the waterpump

  14. Hi there! It's been long since the last post in this thread, but maybe you're still here. 😊 I'm just looking into buying the same setup for my 2006 VTEC, and wanted to ask you if you had any issues with the SH23 side cases on your VFR. Our (not so) good friend, Chat GPT told me, that the clearance between the exhaust and the side cases is too small, and the case plastic material would melt (Hahahaha). I guess the reason why Shad says the SH23 doesn't fit the 3P rail on the VTEC is that you cannot open the cases with the passenger grabrail in its place.

  16. Not difficult (or expensive) to do with modified stock parts and a custom made stronger spring - - this type of star fits all RC36 models, NC30s and RC30s and works well, giving quicker shifts and more positive engagement in all gears. The stop arm mod is a `688` series (8 x 16 x 4mm) miniature bearing, held in place with a custom made shouldered stainless steel rivet. The spring is around 15% stronger than stock, those are made for me by a company in Essex. Cam profile has slightly lower but still pointed peaks with a convex curve on the flanks, all of the in gear and neutral detent points are cut with an 8mm radius concave profile to match the shape of the bearing for optimum positive location. We have a CNC program for this profile - it is designed so that you can cut it onto either the `curvy` RC36/1 type cam or the more `star shaped` RC36/2 version (top left in the picture) and we have also successfully used it to reprofile NC29/Fireblade type stars.
  17. Hey thanks very much, i just ordered the headers. I will sure do a cerakote and in summer i will have to find a reputable ECU flash workshop..., thanks guy for the help and developing this topic
  18. Yes. Exactly the same. It will fit on VFR 800 engine without problem. Ciao, Luigi.

  20. Some info on clamps.... this guy John Renolds is a super fab guy, His stuff is incredible and crazy.. (love it)
  21. VFR weight is push bike status now. 😀 Pair of bikes parked next to it are 1500lbs and 3,627cc of BEEFY Honda.
  22. Having the High handlebars, Crash bars .......and not doing it with your own treasured bike must play a part as well
  23. Yeah the Japanese Motors have mad skills. Both my girls are '99s. One is setup for touring/commuting, and the other for day rides/track days. Work girl is 525 lbs. Play girl is 475. The difference in handling is significant. Since my partner in riding decided to hang up her helmet for solo riding I've been on the lookout for a clean ST. Nothing tempting yet.
  24. I have absolutely no idea what you guys are talking about. You need to get a Japanese policeman (or woman) to train you 😃 They handle the Viffer like it's a featherweight, and none of them are built like Arnold!
  25. The software and maps are available on this site. The software will run on Windows 10 and 11, you'll need a 9 pin serial port or a workable serial to USB adapter. I've had hit & miss luck with the adapters. If you can't find a PC3 it might be worth it to try some of the maps. When you open the maps in the software it will tell you what bike/configuration it was created for, the M101-001 map was for stock bike & air filter. That doesn't mean someone didn't modify the map on that PC later on. I think the PC3 software uploaded here works with the PC2 maps. I have the old original PC2 software if needed.
  26. Google states : Delkevic part number. Not much use with no rear headers.
