  2. Hi OT, do report back on your fork upgrade. You might be the first with an 8 Gen to tell us you've upgraded the internals. Quite interested in the Andreani kit so it would be good to hear your experiences particularly the range of compression adjustment.
  3. You could do that on the standard version, although it would delete the 8 Gen Deluxe version ABS and might then require some additional mods to keep the 'brain' happy
  4. Very nice. Sebspeed did custom triples for my RC51 front and machined the front wheel and rotor spacers to fit the Ducati OZ wheel in the RC forks.

Looks like a well sorted 5th Gen to me!
  6. Another way to do this is just a double banjo bolt at the MC and then run a brake line separately to each caliper.
  7. Finished yanking the front end and cleaning the hydraulic oil off. Tomorrow goes to the suspension guru for Andreani fully adjustable forks internals, straight rate springs for my weight, and OEM rebuild bits.
  8. I've alway been a sucker for weight savings stuff... Along the same line, anybody also changed the front wheel, but kept the stocker forks?
  9. 848 is indeed the smaller diameter axle (same as 916). I have an 848 Marchesini on a Triumph hub on one of my projects. Axle was shortened 30mm and re-threaded.

  11. Adding wheel weights for interest... Rear... jeez, there's around .65 pound of powder coat on the thing. Front - no bearings or spacer installed
  12. 8 spoke is generally considered 3rd Gen in the states. 1990 - 1993

    Anything goes!

  15. For those that are interested in WEIGHT SAVINGS stats. I will attach some photos of rear wheel weights with rubber and Ducati rear complete hub without caliper. Lets calculate: 22.9 LBS -- rear Marchesini rim with Large Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP. 15.7LBS-- Ducati Panigale v4 rear hub bearings. 26.3 LBS- 5 Spoke OEM VFR rear wheel with rubber. 24.6 LBS-- 8 Spokes 3rd Gen (Captain 80s is Correct) OEM VFR rear wheel with rubber.
  16. I am running 2022 Kawasaki ZX10R front end which required custom triple tree. Fellow member SebSpeed made custom triple for me, highly recommend his expertise and skills! Front rim is from 19 Ducati Panigale 1099 which is forged Marchesini.
  17. makes perfect sense — rotating the plate to lower the seat is a common tweak
  18. Nice bike, what front end are you running?
  19. Extreme Creations says "Other required parts are the complete Ducati rear hub assembly including cush drive, brake disc, caliper & caliper bracket. As well as a Ducati 1098 rear wheel or aftermarket wheel to suit a Ducati 1098. A suitable brakeline will also be required." For my conversions I picked up a complete (eBay) 2007 1098 swingarm with the hub, brake disk, caliper and rear brake master, and resold the bare swingarm. The Ducati rear master is mush so installed a new Brembo rear brake master ($90). I stuck with the 1098 6" wide wheel and lucked in to a forged 1098S Marchesini and an OZ wheel but the cast 1098 wheel works also. Note there is an very early 2007 1098 axle that is a couple mm smaller than all the later "large" Ducati axles, only matters for the pin size on the sssa lifts. The rear wheel 55mm axle socket is available, https://www.amazon.com/Wheel-Nut-Socket-Ducati-Multistrada/dp/B09SYRVR7H Torque spec is 208NM! In my notes I have for compatible 6" rear wheels: 1098, 1098S, 1098R 2007-2009 1198, 1198S, 1198R 2009-2011 Multistrada 2015-2020 also, probably also Multi 2010-2014 the same 6" wheel. As Jim mentioned the 848 (+ others) wheel will work and keep the 5.5" rim and 180 tire. Not sure if the hub is the same, these may have the "small" Ducati axle but should work with the EC kit.
  20. One of the Best mods for VFR indeed!!!! I went with 1098 Hub and running larger rear tire.
  21. 80s VF/VFRs had a splitter. Used on MANY other models. The longer apron on the one side can be trimmed to allow for more brake line movement / positioning.
  22. I’m sourcing parts for the VTR fork swap/brake delink and wondering which bike this manifold is from. I have everything except the brake lines. Thanks!
  23. Last week
  24. Yes. Yes you are. So glad it was just the pics. No. 1 reason I fucking hate powder-coaters. Cheers!!
  25. Weird how the light in the photo makes the wheels look gold.. in reality they are silver.... I am sooo glad I dont have to clean up paint in the mount and bearing areas.. I still have nightmares of the Chrome work on the Valkyrie wheels. They didnt mask it at all.... not fun! Everything needed to be hand fitted together... bleah....
  26. That's a very red pair of scooters
