  1. Past hour
  2. I don’t think it’s rust it’s just thick maple-syrup-like gunk. The petcock (that is oddly not on the side of the tank where it would be reachable after a ride?)….my god. It was just solid sediment. Solid as a rock. Had to pick it out. Unbelievable. From just gas.
  3. No, still love but the realities of older carb bike woes are wearing on me. And I still have the 500 to go with the same probable issues after this one. You found the Pingel mod here on this forum?
  4. Today
  5. If it's rusty look up citric acid/baking soda/dawn solution. It will dissolve the rust without touching the paint.
  6. Yesterday
  7. Some mild solvent that won't fuck your clear coat (WHEN it spills) with some "media" in the tank to agitate typically works pretty good for a start. Don't use stainless so you can use a magnet to get stubborn nuts (that you counted before putting them in).
  8. "LOVED"? Like past tense? I think someone found that the CBR1100XX strainer was a fit? I'm not sure on that. There are a couple people making adapter plates with an o-ring groove to the tank and a threaded boss to take a Pingel style fuel valve that is readily available. I bought one last year to future proof myself.
  9. Those of you who have ideas about cleaning the inside of a tank I'm all ears as well. I sprayed compressed air and gasoline under a lot of PSI for a while today. Didn't make much difference. The only thing that seemed to clean out the sludge was using the tip of the sprayer to physically scrape it off the inside of the tank. Would steam work better?
  10. Boy. Gas sitting in a fuel system and tank is horrendous to a bike. Like a damn bomb went off in my tank. My petcock assembly is in unbelievable shape. Fuel ate one of the strainers completely. It's part number 16950-MT4-672 and of course, now unavailable. Anyone have thoughts on a substitute? Sigh. I LOVED this bike.
  11. Class, style and fashion......
  12. Hi tyrroneous, Thank you for your donation of --. We look forward to improving the forums with your donation. Thanks VFRDiscussion
  13. FYI... if you ever find yourself wanting to change ergonomics from the stock clip-ons the 5th gen has a good number of choices. You can go for a slight rise with Heli-bars (USA company). A bit more upright with superbike style bars from Spiegler or Hurricane. Or go for full upright standard with Hurricane's Police ver Handlebar kit.
  14. It took some time in finding, I can tell you that lol… and convincing my wife that I needed another bike(my other is a 14 year old Honda scooter… SH300I that fits on the rear of our Motorhome) But she was convinced when I brought it home 👍
  15. No, I really do want to forget. 🤢 Same with the LED underglow strips from Wish. 🤮
  16. Welcome indeed. What a great find!
  17. Don't forget all the blue anodised fasteners
  18. Hello, nice to have you here. Your VFR looks so fresh almost mint condition.
  19. The one color I'm jealous we didn't get in the states. Forest green, silver, black etc.. don't care. But gosh darn it I'd of loved to have owned a blue 5th gen.
  20. Flip plates aren't compatible with VFRs. Flip plates are primarily compatible with GSXR-600s with plasti -dipped bodywork, bar end mirrors from TEMU and duct taped seat work.
  21. All done regards oil, filters, tyres, etc etc. I’ll be doing the regulator/rectifier soon, and fitting a volt meter. Also changing the exhaust to a stainless system, and swapping the end can. I’m just waiting for the rain to stop.. oh, and putting new brake lines on 👍
  22. i'm guessing a 3mm hex will drain the bowls on the 750?
  23. Only if you think a V4 is a design flaw. Plus, I would MUCH rather take two easy mid cowls off than my tank. There isn't a V4 that you can get to the drains by removing the tank. Including your VF500F. But without lowers it is easy.
  24. Mid cowls have to come off.
  25. keny

    Anything goes!
