  2. Forks apart for inspection and refresh. Way over sprung for my weight. Andreani folks says the 10.3 springs with the kit are for 230lb rider or more. Yikes !!
  3. Click on Sweepers profile picture and that's the same motorbike.
  4. Yesterday
  5. Good fortune! Long story short I'm really the 2nd owner as the "real" 2nd owners didn't ride it, or know anything about motorcycles at all. They DID have the generosity to have it serviced back in August when they decided to sell it. So I got a recently serviced 4.4k mile 1998 rc46 for 5.2k. truly a wonderful stroke of luck. See how long it takes for me to drop it.
  6. We are aware of the 3rd Gen sliding in on the shaft and rotating forward into the tray. Your comment above when we were discussing a 4th Gen is what caused the confusion. I'm not 100% sure what we are exactly talking about anymore.
  7. I had in mind to paint her in the VF1000R rwb scheme but never wanted to tear her down that long.
  8. A warm welcome. The UK must have some special filters now though as your pictures are ' content not viewable in your region'. I'll just imagine you have an excellent find.
  9. The 3rd gens (1990-93) maybe, 4th gens (1994-97) no. I will take a picture in the morning.
  10. While this won't directly affect me as I have eliminated my passenger pegs, I have never read or seen this info regarding a 4th Gen. Somebody being clever? Doesn't feel like it was purposely engineered that way like the 3rd Gen. Please somebody snap a pic.
  11. Woah woah....the grab rails on a 4th gen will fit under the seat if you bolt them on upside down? I never knew! I thought it was only the third gen that folded away. Wow!
  12. Do be quite the difference!
  13. Yeah I thought the little flat blade screws were odd too. Never seen flat blade screws on a bike that I can remember.
  14. Not sure what the bumpers and screws are for. Flat blade screws in that size on a Honda are very rare. They look a lot like Corbin seat bumpers that isolate the seat pan and the subframe., The triangle spacers are place holders when the solo seat cowl is not installed.
  15. Ok. The bolts I have. They are in the same holes once the grab bars got removed….just put back in the same holes to hold the plastic on. By bumpers I meant the little black rubber pieces with the small flathead bolts in them. That leaves the little black plastic triangle pieces?
  16. Looks like thats all been replaced before I got it. no booboos on the bag or grab handle and I have the seat cowl. However it looks like it went down on the otherside at some point, some scuffs on the right bag and had to bend the mount back straight
  17. It appears you are missing the 8 mm x 33mm flange head bolts that hold the grab handles in place. I took some pics. First pic is of the 8 x 33 mm bolt,. Second, where what you call the bumpers go. They are for bungee or cargo netting tie downs. And lastly how it should look when installed. Ignore the different bolt heads, I used longer bolts as I modified my bike to fit a six pack rack, the first pic is the oem bolt. If you cannot locate oem Honda bolts you should easily be able to source a 8mm bolt from a hardware store. They can be a bit longer as the threads go all the way through the base and there is room under it, or cut to length. They are standard 1.25 pitch, so don't get 1.50 pitch or anything that says fine pitch. Good luck.
  18. In case you get an idea to remove those stripes, they are vinyl and will peel right off. But, before you do, there are some booboo's under the one on the left side upper cowl. There's a great story there. The left bag also has the matching booboo's. There was a fresh lid for that bag, seat cowl, and grab handle covers included in the sale. I hope you got them as well.
  19. Not really useful for folks with clip ons, but for regular handlebars you can find clamp on cross bars on Amazon with swivel ends and length adjustable. Search "motorcycle cross bar" This will essentially make a 2nd horizontal rung so you can bolt on Navi, cup holder, satellite dish, microwave, searchlight.. whatever you want for accessories There's even smaller T-shaped cross bars. So you could bolt cross bars on your cross bar.
  20. Thanks for the answers guys. Sadly, I already bought the tablet, it's a Blackview ruggedised 8". I need a large screen so I can read the damned thing otherwise I would use my phone. Looks like I'll be limited to Google Maps for routes then. I'll try them first and decide whether I want to invest in a subscription to get navigation functionality on Kurviger. I can listen to music/Mrs Skids on my headset bt'd to my phone so I guess that covers all the bases. As it's a beautiful early spring day here in Blighty, I may just pop the 1200X out for a run and see if the setup works. Cheers.
  21. More parts. Big ones are a new 6th gen water pump and a flywheel from a 2007. It was nice to get spark plugs in. as3 shorted me on some hose clamps. They responded quickly, and those clamps cleared customs today. Getting the radiator and some hoses installed feels good. I ordered a 6th gen thermostat housing off eBay. We will see if that fits.
  22. This forum kicks copious amounts of arse, just for stuff like this!
  23. Boom! USPS came thru today. I'm gonna call this solved for me. Whew. Found a 10mm OD new one online. Some guy selling them (made in Italy) on ebay. He has a bunch of them (new stock) in all different widths (I had to get two more in different sizes for my ZX. Same issue there. OEM ones are NLA, gas just destroyed them.) Ebay seller name is valtermotousa in case anyone needs it. Various lengths and widths available, but the 10mm x 56mm works for me. Search under "OMG Italy petcock replace filter screen 10mm diameter X 56mm long" in his store of nearly 5000 items (!) I cut a small V notch in the ring on the base in order to get it close enough to the big straw to fit into the round hole in the base. Zip tie keeps it straight. Held in by tension alone...it's tight.
  24. Wait....my bolts are different than the ones in the manual. I was just now thinking "I'm missing washers so I'll have to get some, according to the manual pic" but now I think they are not even the same bolts.
  25. Hiya. Hey I didn't want to start a new thread when this one should work just fine: I recently found the grab rails for my 94 as well and need some info as I'm getting all the bikes ready for a somewhat regular passenger: my 14 year old son. Oh. And don't bother sending in your application for Dad of the Year this year. I got it wrapped up. Rolling into the pick up/drop off line at the middle school on a bike is instant lifetime Dad award. You have never seen so many young 6th/7th/8th grade boys ignore their parents stern requests to "get in the car we have things to do!" and stand slackjawed while snapping pics and sending texts to my son with pics and every question under the sun, such as "How much does it cost?" and "How fast will it go?" over and over again. So far we've been on the 6th gen r/w/b a good bit, and the ZX once (Still having carb issues there. Not sure of next steps.) but the 750 is up soon for carb work I hope and then the 500. Springtime is gonna be fun fun fun over at the middle school. Teenage boys are still into bikes, believe it or not. Sure gets them off their phones and looking up and talking and interacting pretty damn fast, I know that. Seriously, every kid in that school goes home with "When can I get a bike?" every time I ride to pick-up. I guarantee it. Makes me laugh when I give it the revs and the boys jump and yell and the moms in the cars and the teachers facilitating it all just glare at me. Lo, do I laugh loudly in my helmet. Just giggling every damn time. When there's a huge spike in new bike sales in...2-4 years, the OEMs can thank me for it. VFR content: For passenger confidence, I found the grab rails and a small pkg of hardware that obviously I took off with them since it was all taped together. Took them off...25-28 years ago? I saw Dutchy's pic of the manual, and I've look on the Partzilla pics, but not sure what the small bumpers with the screws, and the triangle-shaped tabs are. Any ideas? Who has them still on the bike and can post a pic?
  26. Went to put the registration info in the seat and found a bag labeled 'sweeper's camera mount' holding old registration info if we weren't already sure it's the same bike haha
