Probably should have mentioned this earlier but, to be clear, I ride with my feet on the top of the pegs.
-
Just back from a sun-drenched, twisty road test of about 280km. The verdict? Totally worth it. Although the spring is notably stiffer when you bounce on it, this translates to much less unneeded suspension movement on dips so the net effect is to absorb bumps better and keep the chassis much steadier in bumpy turns. It is also more comfortable, and of course confidence-inspiring. $usp$pension upgrade$ - the best money you can spend!

I cut the feelers down on my stock pegs because I got tired of scraping them all the time. 1/2" was all it took. They still let me know when I'm about to start grinding hard parts, but the margin is thinner.
-
Phew! I was thinking the bottoms.
-
Not sure we are talking about the same thing. I'm referring to the nubs on the outer TOP. I would hope not to touch those down.
-
I don't know how you guys are riding, but I've never touched down even at advanced track pace!
-
Absolutely. I would have blended those down pretty quick. Still wouldn't be thrilled about the tread pattern.

In addition to the SV lines, there are connections for the fuel pressure regulator and the flapper valve.

Damn, my heart goes out to you. I've never heard of an 8th gen motor seizing up at least for me. As far as I'm concerned its probably one of the best motorcycles ever built. Wow.

There are some discussions here on the forum about upgrading the injectors or whole TB. Bike is looking good, wouldn't have thought it could be revived. https://www.vfrdiscussion.com/index.php?/forums/topic/83008-injectors-and-connectors/

I assume you’re talking about a reconditioned engine not a used one

Wouldn't take but a few minutes to remove those nubs from those pegs with the right tool. Mine are aftermarket. They do have nubs, but not near as much.

Has mankind spent more saddle-time on 5th gens with a standard riding position or hunched over as sport bike? 🤔
-
Mad Libs version: I can certify that having a {adjective} riding posture while you listen to that motor sing all day is {adjective} Brainstorming, no wrong answers, everything goes on the dry erase board.
-
5th Gen engine in a crossrunner would be the way! I can certify that having a relaxed standard riding posture while you listen to that motor sing all day is 🤩
-
Yer making me want to keep mine lol

If is was me.... I would be very tempted to find a reasonable 5th gen engine to stuff into your frame.... Its been done on a 6th gen, but havent heard any one doing it on an 8th..... assuming the process would be the same...

Spoke with the tech after picking up the bike, he ran a borescope into the spark plug holes and didn’t find any valve to piston contact. He said that he drained the fresh oil I put in and checked the oil pan. He found a bunch of copper “glitter”, I checked my own oil pan at home and found some glitter too… He suspects the crankshaft grenaded itself. Im more than likely going to have to source another motor, but im exploring all other possibilities. There is only one 8th gen motor for a VFR800 that I could get shipped here in Canada, but it’s been sitting outside for some time. I found a local one but he lowsided the bike and it’s got the same milage as mine, and a crack in the crank case… Getting one sent in from the UK totals up to 5-6k with shipping costs and the actual cost of the engine, and a new engine is 9ish grand. I have no idea what i’ll do…

well i seem to have found myself in a bit of a pickle.... mailed the parts motor injectors off to kurt at advancedinjector, only to be politely informed me they were unserviceable, which made sense. so i plucked the ones out of the new motor and sent those instead...and it was the same story. explains why it wouldn't run, at any rate. there's a junkyard close by that has a couple '99-'01 CR-Vs, which as i've discovered use the same part number injector, but i'm worried they've either been picked clean or the injectors'll be in similar condition. are there any other injector types that would drop in and run? not much progress to report otherwise. new mirrors and screen: (i think i might have the only fifth gen with hazards)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BC2DDM1P this one looks like it'll fit, i have one that's about to go on my fifth gen but i just haven't gotten around to it yet

I'm getting ready to do a starter valve sync on my 2008 bike, which has become a bit hard to start when cold. I've already got some 4mm silicone vacuum line coming to replace the four starter valve lines. Anything else I need to change while I'm in there that could be letting some air in?

I see the differences now. Whelp live and learn! Hopefully I can get most of my money back from the '88 1986 Year 1988

Oops. I do believe I know how to post YT videos or they wouldn't be on YT. However I may have screwed up copying the link to the playlist. Thanks for the helpful comment. -
I think that you might not know how to post videos. You're in your YT studio in these links. You need the link to the actual video.
