jhenley17
I had a sport bike advocacy group shirt on the first time I saw my new doctor about my back pain. He didn't like that much.I don't use the term "crotch rocket" because I know there are more than 2 or 3 types of motorcycles. Those people are usually ones who can't tell the difference between any sport bikes or cruisers or they're squids. I don't get too upset about it, though. It's kind of like the "clip vs. magazine" thing to me, just roll with it.If it's an actual conversation I'm having with someone and not some guy just asking what I ride, I do try to describe it as a smaller sport tourer.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Member Contributer Bent Posted September 23, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2016 Having a drivers license is a right in this country, not an earned or qualification based license. Getting your money is #1. Look to your right, left, in front of, or behind you as you ride or drive. There's the proof in the pudding. Sounds cynical but it's reality. Many people talk about "gun violence"....what about "car violence". You run over and kill someone where I live and you don't get charged with anything. That's partly why I consider riding a VFR safer than riding a bicycle. I can get away from a car on a VFR. Cars harass me on my bike. In staying with the spirit of the thread: "Get off the cell phone and drive".

Member Contributer MaxSwell Posted September 23, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted September 23, 2016 As I'm leaving a fellow rider on my recent BC trip he says: Shinny side up, rubber side down, tach in the black. On a viffers mirror at Nelson meet-up: objects in this mirror are losing My motto: Get lost and see the REST of the country. And: Where the hell am I?! Another of my favorites: Ride like a knob and you'll die. From the interweb: “Calling upon my years of experience, I froze at the controls.” – Stirling Moss “Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death...” – Hunter Thompson “Keep thy eye on the tach, thine ears on the engine, least thy whirlybits seek communion with the sun” – John 4:50 Young riders pick a destination and go... Old riders pick a direction and go. "I don't want a pickle, I just want ride on my motorcikle. I don't want to die, I just want a ride on my motorcy.........cle." - Arlo Guthry If the person in the next lane at the stoplight rolls up the window and locks the door, support their view of life by snarling at them. And my favorite: Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid across the line broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out, leaking oil, shouting GERONIMO! Ciao, Way back when the earth was still cooling (prior to cell phones) we used to say "finger out - foot down" to the vast majority of sheeple doddering along in the left lane at 4 or 5 below the limit. Her response was that motorcycles are dangerous because of the other people on the road, but it's very accurate.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It's all about the upbringing and if guns are part of your life, I guess.... I've shot a lot of bullets from pistols (Walther PPK, Magnum, Sig-Sauer P226, Glock) to police-issue semi's (H&K MP5) to full-on 7.62mm SLR & the new SA80 but nothing came even close to firing 2 x 27mm Mauser cannons at high rate (1700rpm), not even riding a motorcycle! I find there is always a group of gun enthusiasts in most automotive/motorcycle based forums. I have been considering an AR pistol build, it would probably be small enough to fit in my soft saddle bags. One thing my father said about his CBR1100XX, "I got to the point it no longer scared me, and then I knew it was time for a change." He went from that to a BMW K1200S, then got on cruisers(VTX1800, now a HD Roadglide).
