Sad news on IMS Motorcycle Shows.....Suspended : (
VFR4Lee replied to SubyRS's topic in OTHER Motorcycle Talk (non vfr)
I used to go every year. Even if it comes back in Long Beach next year, I'll be about 200 miles away by then. Too far. Not likely to happen. I'll miss it. -
Yeah, but I think we're all pretty mature looking these days. 😝

You all know which one is HispanicSlammer, right? 😁

Some old fart that has been on here for a long time. But not so much lately. It's amazing that Miguel has kept running this site and has not sold out to Verticalscope or anyone. Go Miguel! 👍 Monterey Laguna Seca 2002.

No doubt, but I'm not going to spend $500 - $600 or more on a new one any time too soon. Still looking good. 👍

I haven't been on herein a while. Sold my 98 VFR going on 5 years ago. I had it for most of it's life and put on about 80,000 miles. Wanted something lighter and more powerful. So, I picked up this Ducati Monster 1200, near new. More than enough power, wow. Less weight and better handling. Great bike. Great maintenance bills and some thing you have to go to the dealer for. Put about 25,000 miles on it. Got tired of throwing money at it. Planning to move and the nearest dealer would be about 150 miles away. Thinking I don't need this insane level of power, don't really use it. All this lead to a decision to sell it, and I ended up trading it for a new 2022 Suzuki SV650. Even less weight, shorter wheelbase, handles even better. At least at lowish speeds during break in. But I have not quite 200 miles on it so far. Will add to that tomorrow. Keeping it to 5000 or so RPMs means a lot of short shifting. Can't really comment on the power yet. But I do like it so far. Ride safe whatever you ride. 👍

Just checking on this thread to see if the OP got it fixed. Hopefully. Well, didja? 😃

I don't know much about that Indian, but it looks cool.

Maybe just replace the axle along with the stuff that went mia or got broke. If it's questionable.

Long live VFRs, be they dead or alive! 😁

I haven't looked here in a while, and what do I see? Thank you BLS Larry, save me the trouble wondering where those pics were. Yeah, that sucked pretty hard and this new case looks about the same. I think I spent about $600 for mostly used parts and got it back on the road. Someone here was conveniently parting out a bike and had a lot of my parts. The engine case was OK, but there was a sacrificial cage thing that was toast by the front sprocket. Ran it about 1500 miles after the fix, it seemed solid. Then sold it. Good luck on fixing it OP. Maybe those pics weren't so hard to find after all. 🙂

Sounds like Dutchy would fit in fine here in Socal. Come on down. Probably want to avoid Texas though. 😀

We went last June and there were still a few fire trucks around from the big fires. I think it was still smoldering inland in the mountains. The way this looks they will have to build a bridge. Or route a section of road inland some, if that is possible.

PCH. Pacific Coast Highway. Or Perpetual Construction Highway. They should probably just give up, but it's an awesome ride and a huge tourist attraction that pulls in locals too. I'm sure they are already planning the repairs.

I think it was that 1988 Laguna Seca 500 GP race that got me into racing. Saw it on over the air TV, and just had to get cable TV, and go to the races the next year. It's a great all day ride up the coast. Kevin Schwantz sticks in my mind, although I don't recall if it was because he had a good result, or crashed, picked it up and carried on, or what.

I miss Laguna Seca. Have not been since i think 2013. Based on the T shirts. In 2011 Valentino and Nicky were team mates on Ducati. In the closet I have an autographed T shirt from Rainey, the year they named it Rainey curve. And 1 from Doohan another year not long after, and he was retired, iirc. Plus others. And a lot of posters I have not looked at in years.

I don't put anything more valuable than a snot rag in the jacket pockets. Wallet goes in the pants pocket with this JR gear. Phone goes in the trunk, or fanny pack if I bring that.

I had one with the perf leather sleeves. After a few years the leather rotted from sweat. I was lucky to find one without leather on Craigs list for $20 last year and snapped it up. I don't think the protection is on par with a leather suit, or a textile suit, but those are too dam hot in summer.

I think you can still download XP. Not sure if this is legit, but look around. https://isoriver.com/windows-xp-iso-download/
