Lisa and I will be in Custer tomorrow afternoon. If needed we can pick up anyone having problems, within a reasonable distance. We are trailing in so it will be easy to load up a bike and head in. Sent from my SGH-T999L using Tapatalk3 points

Nice shot YYZ. Glad you got the fast colour and enjoying your ride. My 8gen has turned out to be my favourite set of wheels. Cheers.2 points

I can't thank Fred and Lisa enough for what they are doing for me. They are driving 500 miles to Bozeman to get me to Custer. Yes, a thousand miles round trip !!!1 point

Preparing for South Dakota in July... So, the last set of sprockets I went with the standard 17/43 setup, due to the fact that I couldn’t find a reasonably priced STEEL rear sprocket in a 46t size. Now, years later, my chain is getting all kinky, so I decided to revisit it and found that PBR now makes one, and the price is right, so I figured I’d give it a whirl. I also discovered that JT makes an 18t rubber bonded cushion type front sprocket, which I like, for noise reduction. Just like the OEM Honda ones. And to tie them together, I got an EK 530 ZVX3 chain in gold, 110 link. Now why why would I do this you ask, when the net gearing effect is like 1%? Mainly because my bike has its rear ride height maxed out, and I’d like to keep the chain as far away from the swingarm as possible. And also for longevity. More sprocket teeth = longer component life, all else being equal.1 point

There's nothing wrong with that sprocket, the sprocket should be thinner than the length of the shaft. A little lateral movement is fine, you just don't want any axial movement. Also lube up the splines good with anti-sieze before installing the sprocket.1 point

It’s not a VFR gathering unless someone has electrical issues. We spent the last couple of hours riding twenty minutes and swapping batteries to get mine to the hotel this spring. Turned out to be burned wires between the stator and r/r. Back on the road in about an hour thanks to Todd. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I had a brake pad not seated in the caliper correctly after a tire change, which then was pushing the rotor into the mounts like that. I would check the alignment of the caliper and pads.1 point

Nice. I’m sure the SS riders will be thrilled getting passed by a motorcycle with pannier racks!1 point

I went ahead and dropped the cash on the Knight Designs pegs and a few other goodies as well. TechSpec Tank grip pads and the OEM Honda tank pad also going on and a different style of lever. It's so strange owning a bike I don't feel the need to modify a lot to get it how I want it. I got all artsy feeling and tried to get a couple of dramatic night shots in. Not my best work, but not my worst either.1 point

Either way, the new screen is installed. By this stage, I've learned the value of cooling compression wear. I'm not above skin tight underwear...as long as they are hidden under something else. The Race for the Wounded guys are helping me out! I just get to race under their banner this year. I was very fortunate to have that organization get me back on bikes after getting blown up in Afghanistan in 2011. They gave me the chance to be competitive and have fun again without getting in over my head. I can't say enough good about them.1 point

Thanks letting me know. Interestingly, I had ordered the same part from Bike Bandit a few hours before your post. If it came sans decal, I was going to order "sfdownhill's" decal. I haven't ordered from them in quite some time, but they were by far the cheapest this time around. It is interesting that Honda includes the decal with the cowl, but no longer has the decal available separately. Perhaps the body work we ordered was made years ago and the stock in Honda's warehouse is all that's left.1 point

I’m going to be late if show up at all. My ride died on me at the rest stop on I-90 between Bozeman and Billings. Waiting for a tow back to Bozeman for service that won’t be open until Monday. So I’ll be staying a few days in Bozeman. This hasn’t been my day to say the least. Kevin.0 points
