In......................... Luxemburg!

during the past two weeks schoolvacation, my wife and son were visiting her family in the small country of Luxemburg

Them taking the company car, I could have taken one of the other cars to visit over the weekend, but with a weather foreacst of 25+ Celcius????

No way!!!!

Let's take the
HPIM6301.jpg

Fast way in via the slab
HPIM6340.jpg
(bit of dutch car mgfr history here.... from the guys that gave the world CVT transmission)

Have to cross another country to get there
HPIM6336.jpg

and can nip over to yet another...
HPIM6323.jpg
(told ya it is a small country....)

First stop in Luxemburg was the town of Clervaux (Clerf in the local language)

clerf-1.jpg
for a bit of lunch with my wife.

And while the country has is share of straight roads where 110kmh is allowed, it is the twisties we want!

Some serious elevation drops too..
HPIM6306.jpg

No guard rail, but just straight down to the left

You want castle? We give you castle

dam.jpg
to the right is the dam used for a hydro-lectric facility higher up the road.
They use excess/cheaper electricity during the day to pump water up to a large lake higher up. During night when the price of electricity is higher, they generate/sell it by releasing water in to the lake behind the dam via large turbines. Night after night..

HPIM6294.jpg
(some were littered with sand, elevation drops like crazy.

curve2.jpg
(just heard that yesterday a m/c died on these roads)

curve3.jpg
(bottom of the road, at the tree, 90+ degrees right, off camber.... great roadbuilding...

And, one thing that is becoming rarer and rarer in the Netherlands, so Luxemburg is a :fing02: place

Cheers!

Great picks. I would have loved to ride a bike instead of the train when we visited Belgium Luxemburg and Germany but that would have ment less sightseing and bar hopping.

:fing02: Love the photos

When can I come visit?

Great pics, Love seeing other countries that I may never visit...

just do it. Between feb and april you can get a round trip ticket for just over 400 bucks including tax. Non-stop even!(I always build in a stop to smoke)

I ve been there, I loved it, I am going to retire somewhere near.

and the people are really friendly fokkers.

Hey Dutchy, most folks dont realize that Fokker was Dutch!!!

Cool pix. Did you eat any fries over there? I hear the Belgians make the best fries on the planet.

nope belgium was transit only...

did have some fun with a Renault Megane RS, swapping places doing 140+mph on the motorway near Spa Francorchamps (motorway was empty in the morning). I'd accellerate away, with him catching up......

dutch fries with mayo ARE THE BEST!!!

We have some very good friends who are from Belgium. When we lived in the Hudson Valley, we'd go into the city to a Belgian restaurant, just off of Times Square, and we'd eat Belgian French Fries and Muscles. They were excellent!
