  1. I have not been, but if I have time this Sunday, I will cruise by to see if it is worth going. I'll let you know when I find more info.

  2. Someone told me there is a bike night at Shooters in Holland on Sunday nights...wondering if you have been?

  3. So I don't blind oncoming traffic. The reflective light housing on the VFR is not ideal for HIDs. They send a lot of light everywhere. Even if you adjust the headlight aim you will still be blinding oncoming traffic, IMO. I work 2nd shift and as a result do a lot of night riding. My ride home from work is an hour long trip on twisty, deer ridden, unlighted back roads. I usually can turn on the brights and not have to dim them for miles. I have mine installed on lows and highs and just with my low beams on, I get flashed quite a bit. More often than I like to see! The only good thing, is that I know they can see me! But I do not want to blind them either!
  4. hey, thanks for the message. Looking forward to a ride. My bike is out of commission right now (out for new paint job), but I'm hoping to get it back in the next couple weeks. I was actually thinking about throwing a message out there for any of the west-michigan veefers to see about a possible meet up...perhaps coffee church in GR (Common Grounds Coffee Shop) some Sunday. Will be in to...

  5. I am just down the road from you here in Holland... we should get together sometime for a ride. Catch ya later

    Aug 07' MD Trip

Sorry... I had to make a comment on my own pic, just because :fing02: Anyway, this pic was taken on Beall School Road in Western Maryland. It runs along Big Savage Mountain, it's a nice place to enjoy some decent sweepers and a few switchbacks! I always take a ride through here when I visit MD.

    Aug 07' Maryland Trip

From MI to MD and Back... two-up!!
  9. Ok... now that I have been back from my trip for about 2 weeks and getting caught up on things, I figured I would write this little ditty on my trip to the 07' BMW International Motorcycle Rally in West Bend, WI. My father-in-law (on a K1200GT), a friend from New York (on a K1100RS), and myself on the VIFFER are all who made the journey. We left Holland, MI on July 11th, went to Muskeegon, MI and caught the high speed ferry http://www.lake-express.com/ to Milwaukee, WI. We made it to the rally late that evening with less that 100 miles on the odometer for the trip... I know pretty sad but there is a lot more to the trip on the later half. Now at the rally, we spent 4 days/nights and left on day 5 but in the mean time, my father-in-law got a full Remus (genesis) exhaust on his K1200GT (free installation)along with a nice scratch due to the owner of the Remus US distributor hitting the door on his parts van after the exhaust was installed :pissed: but, he said to go get it painted and he would take care of the bill. I got a new set of Metzeler Z6's and a set of PIAA 1100X driving lights.... nice. The rally site was nice and very well organized with obout 8k people registered and somewhere between 60-80 vendors. There were a lot of seminars on the different BMW models and how to's for riding technique and such. Plenty of entertainment and definately a beer garden with some local micro brews  . I could talk a lot more about the rally buet here is a link if you want to check it out: http://www.bmwmoa.org/ Just navigate around the page and you will find some cool pics and stuff about the rally. Anyway, we left the rally site on Sunday morning and made our way through NE WI and landed in Marquette for the night where we stayed at a friends house and got up the next morning and was back on the road about 9:30 am to head for Holland. From Marquette we made it to the Mackinac Bridge around 3.5 hours and to Holland 8 hours after that. We road the coast of Lake MI as much as we could and I tell ya, some nice scenery and we couldn't beat the weather. Mid 70s the entire day!! The GPS showed a total of 12 hours time and 8.5 of it was riding. The odometer showed 813 miles from West Bend up and around the Upper Penninsula and back to Holland. We couldn't have asked for better weather the entire trip and to be free and just ride with no worries of where you have to be or what you have to do was definately nice. A trip well worth it!!
  10. Nice job on the write up Talus!!
  11. I now have a basic understanding of how to accomplish these electrical mods but I have a couple questions before I start tearing into the bike. 1. How or is the R/R wiring mod associated with the main 30amp fuse mod/replacment? 2. How is the R/R wiring mod associated with the Blue Connector grounding mod? 3. If I do the main 30amp fuse mod/fix, do I still need to do the R/R wiring mod and the blue connector grounding mod or all of them? 4. If I have to do all of these electrical mods, in what order should I do them? Right now, my only problem/concern is that my main 30 amp fuse is discolored and starting to melt... but is that reason enough to go ahead and do all of these mods? Any help would be much appreciated!! Here are my current voltage readings: A. Bike Cold not running a. At the Battery – 12.77 vdc b. Key on (with just the low beams on) - 12.00 vdc B. Bike Started/Running @ idle but still cold a. Voltage Climbed from 13.00 vdc to 15.1 vdc within the first minute. b. The same condition with high beams on at first minute was 14.2 vdc. C. Bike Started/Running at Operating Temperature and at idle. a. 30 amp fuse is hot to the touch meaning cannot keep hand on more than 1 second. b. R/R is hot to the touch, same as fuse. c. Blue connector is barely warm d. Voltage with low beams on – 15.15 vdc e. Voltage with High beams on – Fluctuates from 13.66 vdc to 13.75 vdc f. Voltage with Radiator fans on and high beams – 12.70 vdc g. Voltage with Radiator fans on and low beams – 13.73 vdc D. Bike running @ 2500 rpm. a. Low beams - 15.16 vdc b. High beams – 15.57 vdc E. Bike running @ 5000 rpm. a. Low beams – 15.17 vdc b. High beams – 15.20 vdc
