Veefer800Canuck
Well, Kkkkkk-Ken has been pestering me for pictures, and I've been busy working, so here's a (very) short photo story of my trip to Laguna from Whitecourt, Alberta. If you really want to see ALL the pictures, check my photo album here: http://s13.photobucket.com/albums/a280/vee...%20trip%202007/ I only posted what I thought were the more interesting ones, there's a TON more in the album. You're welcome to check them out. Before I left: Mileage figured out to 2095 miles/3350 km for the trip down via the North Cascades and the PCH. Slow, slow, slow is all I have to say about that. If you're riding the PCH, slash your usual daily mileage in half and add 3 hours more to get it done! Mount Robson: BC forest fire (lightning strike): Winthrop, Washington: Nissan Skyline in Winthrop, JDM, RHD, inline-6, twin turbo, AWD, 300HP: One of the guys at work owns one, so I had to take a pic. North Cascades: ICE CREAM! Deception Pass/Whidbey Island: Found another Canuck from Saskatoon, Ryan Kerr, on the road by random chance. He had 8 buddies lined up to go to Laguna and they all bailed! This is his 636: Ryan rode with us from WA to CA, he was a great impromptu addition to the ride. He really enjoyed having some company as well, the solo trip was beginning to wear on him a bit. After the races, he had to jet to Montana to meet another riding buddy, so he split off Monday from Gilroy after the race weekend. Just beachy! 2 horsepower: Triplets: They were all from Utah and not VFRd members. I encouraged them to drop in and sign up! Tillamook Air museum, supposedly the worlds largest wooden structure: Most of the aircraft are flight worthy: Me with MIG:
Veefer800Canuck
Fuselage painting details: Met up with Tall Paul and Babe: Drove through the tree (of course): This WAS your father's Buick: Hwy 1 south of Leggett, just after the 21 mile super twisty section at the Northermost end:
enzed_viffer
Kewl! What beautiful scenery - I feel really jealous. One day, me'n'the wife will get to visit Canadia...
Veefer800Canuck
Sunset from the WharfMasters Inn in Point Arena: The Rock: Obligatory GG bridge shot: Pillbox: Look Ma, No Fog! Took the ferry ride to Alcatraz and toured the island for several hours: The city from Alcatraz:
Veefer800Canuck
Laguna Seca at last! ZX-RR GP bike, 990cc version from '06: Phat tired custom: That's a 360 rear BTW! Neeto Honda CBR600 with tubular SSSA: Found Larry's RC at the track: Larry was nowhere to be seen however. Probably schmoozing with Mick Doohan or something like that. Mmmmm-V Agustas, prettiest bikes in the paddock. Now about that missing speed.... Speaking of MV's, saw this custom painted one on the Row Friday night: Gaggle of 2-stroke GP reps: Laguna's main straight:
Veefer800Canuck
Finally met up with Larry at Cannery Row and he even let me sit on Mr. RC45: Ducati Monstrosity: The Infamous Corkscrew: VFRd Mods + Larry: Lewis, Me, Miguel, Larry. VFRcap'n in the house also (right): Larry's RC belt conversion: I think he said he needs a shorter belt, but I don't think that's the way to do it! Miguel sez: "How do you drive this thing?" Cannery Row was PACKED on Saturday night: You can get anything you want, at Alice's Restaraunt: Including a '39 Packard: Heading north going towards home (the long way) with HS and Dan from Colo Springs: They hadn't been to the GG yet, so we did it again. Kewl fire truck at a gas starion: Flailer's house, burgers, great company and hospitality, thanks Craig!
KanadianKen
Well - someone had to bug you to share these pics!!! Well done, looks like a trip of a lifetime. Veefer800Canuck
Crater Lake, 1500 foot deep Volcanic lake: Jerry from Seattle, random dude we met at Crater lake. Almost 90,000 miles on his beautiful '87 VFR700: Miguel and Dan (background, above) had to make a dash back to Colorado, so we split up at the lake. Thanks to Flailer for showing us up there! On the way to Bend, Oregon with Jerry and his VFR: Old forest fire area, apparently. Nobody on the road, time to wick it up! 40 HP Model T in Walla-Walla, apparently they were having a meet and the owner said there were over 100 in town for the event. Some shady character: My son's name is Mitchell, so you know I had to take the picture: Lower granite dam, crossing the Snake River. Some crazy guy named Kneivel actually tried to jump the damn river I hear: Back home in the Canadian Rockies, somewhere near Banff: Lake Abraham, between Sask. River Crossing and Rocky Mountain House: My buddy Craig's ZX-12r: And a good old Alberta evening thundershower to welcome us home: Return trip was at least as long as the way down, plus all the riding we did in Cali, total was over 8,000km. I haven't done the total mileage chack yet as per the odometer yet, but I'll update with exact figures later. 15 days total, 6 down, 6 back, 3 at the track, averaged $136/day not including Laguna tickets. Speaking of tickets, we had 2 LEO encounters and zero tickets! Great to meet all the VFRd folks that we did, kinda too bad that nobody else but us made it to Flailer's house in Medford, but we had a great time anyhow. Thanks to all for their friendship, hospitality and everything. Great roads, good food, fine company and lots of miles, scenery and events made for a trip to remember. Member Contributer vfrcapn Posted August 3, 2007 Member Contributer Share Posted August 3, 2007 Great pics, sounds like a great trip! Friday night I made a last minute decision to go to Cannery Row on my own and ended up parking way out - there's like 2000 people walking around. I didn't have plans to meet anyone from VFRd until Saturday evening. Just as I'm taking off my helmet a guy walks up and says "Nice bike, I see you have the RC front end..." in a distinctly Canadian accent..and I'm thinking, there's probably only one Canadian I know that would have noticed my RC front end instantly like that. :D Was a good trip and great to meet everyone!

RogueV4
Hi guy. Good to see ya made it back. That's a nice picture of me on my pearl white '87 VFR up at Crater Lake. Glad I could show you around Bend. After leaving you guys at Mitchell, I continued through the Blue Mtns of OR to Enterprise for some superb IPA at Terminal Gravity brewing, a jacuzzi at the Best Western, and an incredible sunset bike wash. Already planning next year's MotoGP trip, plus others. Hope you don't freeze to death up there this winter in the gas fields. Or get tagged by Dudley Do-Right.
