Member Contributer deltaboxii Posted February 5, 2015 Author Member Contributer Share Posted February 5, 2015 Making steady progress as of 2-5-15 The new regulator/ rectifier has been installed and relocated to the front of the bike. I went with a Shindengen MOSFET, along with the VFRness from Tightwad and a WPS li-ion battery. The new 6th gen fuel tank arrived, and I am hoping that the 5th gen fuel pump and fuel level sensor work with it. If not I picked up a 6th gen fuel pump off ebay cheap. Veefer800Canuck
Yes the 5th gen fuel pump and fuel level sensor will work in the 6th gen tank. I have done it.

Auspanglish
In order to break up the overkill factor of painting the entire bike and hardbags yellow... the old black wedge slice effect on the keel and bags works a treat (or gunmetal grey in your case due to the wheels)... Photochop is a blast!!
Member Contributer Terry Posted February 14, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted February 14, 2015 Auspanglish if that is your Photoshop effort, then accept my compliments, I had a to look twice to spot what had been done. The black screen/mirrors and wedge make for a great contrast to the yellow.
Baileyrock
This is a great project db, other then adding the 400lbs of a 6th gen rear subframe! I here the 8th gen subframes are a bunch lighter, source one of them too!

My prediction... 5th gen subframe...slightly heavier than the Titanic 6th gen subframe...slightly heavier than the Titanic but also with leo's frozen corpse still on board. Member Contributer deltaboxii Posted February 19, 2015 Author Member Contributer Share Posted February 19, 2015 Found this on one of Tink's old posts... clearly I am boldly going where Tink went before ...although I am hoping to have an even better looking bike in the end 6th gen subframe and inner fender with heat shield (not yet modified to fit 5th gen frame) = 16.8lbs5th gen subframe and inner fender = 9.6lbs 7.2 lbs, even up high, isnt a huge deal to me on the street. I can lay off the MickeyD's for a few weeks and lose that. Even with the Staintune dual exhausts, it should'nt be that much heavier than stock. Member Contributer 2FAST4U Posted February 25, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted February 25, 2015 @ deltaboxii I've always admired people with the skill set to do something like that. Great job. I've only seen two other instances where somebody wanted a VFR motor (with gear driven cams) in a more modern-looking package and actually did something about it: 1) An Englishman on another forum removed the 6th gen.'s motor and replaced it with a 5th gen. motor. It was a lot of work but he pulled it off. 2) This is a 5th gen. VFR with an '04-'07 CBR subframe/exhaust/rear cowl and RC51 track plastics. A couple guys in Belgium built it. Member Contributer deltaboxii Posted February 25, 2015 Author Member Contributer Share Posted February 25, 2015 Thanks 2Fast. I should have some more progress this weekend. It won't be any lighter than a Gen 5 but should look more modern and sound pretty sick with the dual Staintunes and GDC. Not to mention the extra convenience of the Honda-Givi OEM bags. The Belgium BioBlade was one of the coolest VFRs ever modified IMHO.
Member Contributer deltaboxii Posted February 28, 2015 Author Member Contributer Share Posted February 28, 2015 This week's progress: - CBR 929 DMR Shock installed - 6th Gen Fuel Tank mounted - Painter matching silver paint - GSXR 6 pistion calipers mounted up. New rotors not yet installed though. I scored a brand new set of Throttlemeisters for $80 off CL. Only real issue is the clearance of the Superhawk front fender. I will have to do more research to see how other guys shimmed it to fit on the SH forks.
Member Contributer JZH Posted February 28, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted February 28, 2015 The VTR1000F forks are spaced closer together than on the VFR800F. SuperHawk is a straight swap on VFR750s because they have the same fork spacing. You may have to use the VFR800F front fender or something else from that era. SEBSPEED
PPG formulas for both the earlier VFR silver colors are listed in a thread here. Go to Google and search "PSA Paint VFRDiscussion", it will come up. Nevermind, here you go: http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/29748-public-service-announcement/ I have used most of them with good results, as shown in the thread.
