AndreasH
The sun is out, and so is my “NR”! Yesterday was the first real test ride with the bike. There is still some details missing, like the fake generator cover and handlebar ends. And there is a few things I want to rework in the future, like the saddle. But for now I just need to enjoy the bike for a while! Riding position is like a early Fireblade, a lot of weight on your wrists…so it´s not a tourer… My goal was to make a replica that passed for a NR at a glance, and I think I succeeded. Here is a bunch of pictures: Still with a smartphone camera (sorry Dutchy!!), but now at least shot in decent light…but I´m not a photographer… :blush2:
The Phantom
That looks terrific Andreas. I've pored over many NR photos over the last 15+ years and you have indeed build a bike that passes for an NR. Well done mate!

Member Contributer Mohawk Posted May 7, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted May 7, 2015 Brilliant, but in this case NR=Not Real ! I'd love a real one, if only money was no object, would probably feel like a big under powered bus by modern standards. A great pity that all that revolutionary engineering lead itself down the garden path to a dead end

Have lived in Scotland for 4 years (these mist covered mountains) but the Netherlands (Lowlands) is home :-) That Swedish whisky is great stuff by the way, specific flavour profile and and that is just what one wants, variety is the spice of life. and andreas "And there is a few things I want to rework in the future, like the saddle." Any more specific measurements or picture, just let me know. The dealer that has one just 3km away....

AndreasH
First of all: A big THANK YOU to all of you that has been replying in this thread commenting, encouraging and cheering! This has really driven me forward during the process. A special thanks to Dutchy that has supplied med with pictures and measures from a genuine NR. And to Helweg that has shared his ideas during his build. This weekend I made a 100km trip on my favorite curved roads. Steering is quicker than standard VFR and with the riding position it´s on the curved roads this bike is at its best. From the beginning I was worried that heat from the exhaust would be a problem. But the air-vents are working fine, and the silencers was not getting that hot so there were no risk of melted plastic. A few more pictures: I still miss the generator cover dummy, so I´ll be back…
750
The first picture there, from the side...it looks like the front wheel is all but a couple of mm away from the lower part of the fairing..does it touch it?
