I also chased vibration that I would have sworn was coming from the engine. After a tire shop added 4oz to a new Michelin, I built a simple balancer and started balancing my own tires. The vibration is gone and has never come back. Just one possibility.
-
I did the same thing with the same result and talked to others here as well as tried their bikes for comparison. The clincher was when the BMW dealer put 3 Oz on my back wheel. That particular case was an anomaly as I think there was something wrong with their mcn but that's when I started balancing my own and noticed a big improvement. I never think about balance anymore. The other thing to try is to tighten up your rear shock damping as I also noted that that caused a jumping on other than perfect roads.

On my old Yamaha TY trials bike, the clutch would be stuck at the start of every ride. Start in neutral or first and drive around with the clutch in till it breaks loose.

I was chasing a vibration for quite a while till I finally started balancing my own wheels. For a long time, I thought it was an engine vibration. Might be something to try. The machine balance from the tire shop was not up to my butt test.

Based on the date, it's likely you already solved this, however, if you didn't or for the sake of anyone else with this issue, I just flipped the throttle bodies up and to the left and never did unplug them.
-
Depending on how you held it, it could have gotten air in it during removal, transportation, installation. It happens on occasion with my trials bike when it does a few rotations crashing down a hill. Also happened on my 2000vfr when I dropped it on the clutch side.

I want one.

Yes, you are probably correct. Anyone know what gauge the wires are and what the 3 stator legs' amperage is typical/supposed to be?

Stick the fork back in the triple, ready made clamp.

I Replaced My Stator Today...and....

But not really fusible, just a built in resistor. As the wire is small gauge, it adds resistance to the circuit. Saves current flow though the stator and rectifier.
-
Someone somewhere has probably said this before but I wonder if the small gauge wires are there intentionally, as a means of limiting the current flow through the pre-rectifier part of the charging circuit?

Don't buy it, piece of junk. Mine has 130 k now, 85 of which I put on it and I still enjoy it every time I ride. -
As they say, if it came down to it, I'd rather be pitching than catching.

Made it back in one piece 1/2 hour ago. Good trip across the province with Gary and Randy... now to rest. Pics to follow tomorrow. Fantastic event, kudos to Mike for doing a great job, have to hand it to you and can't wait for the next one. Best of all was getting to meet up with a great group of people again. Cheers, Ian

Off work in a little under an hour, headed home to pick up the bags then on to Nanaimo and ferry to North Van. Hopefully I'll be catching the 5:20 ferry so arriving at Mike's in Squamish around 8:30 or so. We're taking the Duffy lake road tomorrow morning , Lilloet, Kamloops, then turning right at Monte creek down to Vernon and Fauquier. Looking forward to seeing folks, almost time to play the "match the face to the name to the username" game. I hope to do better this year. See you soon.

Without a doubt, the problem is directly caused by keeping your bike way too clean.

Paint looks great. Well done.

I suppose I could leave my axe at home. Looking forward to it.

On the way home from work the other day, I think it wants to go for a swim.

Engine tapping when cold, valves? 68Kish miles.
BCmcrider replied to Lint's topic in Fifth Generation VFR's
If you're in there, you may as well change the thermostat and short hoses. Mine were weeping at 105,000kms as are many others and the hoses were at end of life. Like Terry says though, as valve clearances get tighter with wear, the tapping noise may not be what you think it is. Are you sure it's not an injector? How about a spark plug boot not seated properly and spark jumping the resultant gap. Does it still make the sound when warmed up?
