What size is your bolt and what rubber do you use?

I have a pair of Y2k mirrors on the way (in fact will be picking them up in September) for my 4th gen.

So what size and length bolts do I need?

And what is so special about the rubber that -at Davidsilverspares- they cost UKP 5.50 each?!

Can I not just cut them from a piece of rubber matting?

This is quite possibly the most mis-leading thread title I've yet seen.

While I can't offer you any good information, well played sir... Well played.

OEM for Y2k mirrors is an M6x16 socket head cap screw. No idea what is different about the plates but I'm curious as well seeing as I'm sitting on a set of mirrors myself and would like to get them mounted.

This is a cut and paste from another thread. Hope it helps...

I bought the mirrors through Amazon for about $38.50 each. Part #'s are below.

Left - Emgo 20-37342

Right - Emgo 20-37341

You will also need two of these below at about $3 each:

Honda 88113-MBG-D00 RUBBER, MIRROR BASE --- RUBBER, MIRROR BASE (Honda Code 6335400)

I purchased these from Powersports Plus. Amazon doesn't have access to these.

Just that it's die cut and fits precisely.

Can I not just cut them from a piece of rubber matting?

Absolutely - just trim around the base of the mirror carefully, punch two holes for the bolts and no one would ever notice any difference.

There's a good chance I purchased the last 6th Gen extenders that Lobster made.

As I remember it, I got the feeling that he was kind of burnt out from all the hassle of getting material, machining the parts, handling the shipments.

All the stuff that goes with selling something via the internet.

He might be back again, but I personally think he wanted/needed a break.

I will try them first "as is"......

I found a few bits of rubber I will cut into shape.

But driving past my Honda dealer, I dropped in and asked....

8 yes eight Euro a piece.... or about $9.... hahahahahahahahahahahaha

Do they fit a 4th gen?

I have a set of Y2k mirrors on my 3rd-gen, which used the same mirrors as the 4th-gen, so probably, yes.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm........ I just dropped a mail to PowersportSuperstore.....

Fitted the mirrors 4 weeks ago while at Doug's. Yesterday I lifted the cover, "greeted" by

Let's see if they stand by what they sell........

You can replace those bolts with stainless steel M8 socket cap screws as well--that's what I use. Are these EMGOs or OEM? I've probably mentioned my opinion of aftermarket mirrors before...

Them are EMGO's.........

and whilst not as pricy as OEM, the fact that a product is sold that oxidies so quickly is poor.

Let's see if I get a response form the seller...

POWERSPORT SUPERSTORE came back..........

They simply tell me to contact the manufacturer........

I've asked them to reconsider, since I have the legal agreement (order/invoice) with them, not with EMGO

OEM replacement mirrors at reasonable prices

Mount and look like the originals

They should add "Looks like the originals for a few weeks only"

I will go to my hardware store and get some INOX bolts myself np.

The mirrors were $25 a piece.

But with their response (basicly "we took your money now bugger off") I would not trust them with a more expensive purchase....
