crakerjac
Why not leave the reed valves in place and just put the block off plates over the gasket?
Member Contributer MooseMoose Posted November 22, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted November 22, 2017 On mine the back end of that screw to hold the reeds in place wouldn't let the cover plate tighten down all the way. I had to pull the reeds to get the blockoff plate tightened down.

Member Contributer Skids Posted December 28, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted December 28, 2017 Another thumbs up for Mello Dude's block-off plates. I fitted them to my 08 6th Gen about 2 years ago and the bike was definitely smoother without the PAIR system.
Member Contributer BusyLittleShop Posted December 29, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted December 29, 2017 Great tutorial on how to remove the Foo Foo Ra... beautiful cut plates too... The VFR is not alone with complying with the Feds Foo Foo Ra... just look at what Honda had to install on the RC45...

Member Contributer FJ12Ryder Posted May 26, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted May 26, 2018 Mine were that way too, and I filed the top of the screws down a bit below flush so they wouldn't interfere with the fit of the plates. But I also stoned the top of the engine to make sure the mating surface was completely flat for the plates to fit.

Member Contributer Dangeruss Posted April 12, 2023 Member Contributer Share Posted April 12, 2023 I bought a set of these, couldn't be any easier. I just put them on and gave them a little tap to mark where the reed screw head was and spot drilled a small counterbore for them to sit in. Top job MD 👌

Member Contributer ShipFixer Posted April 12, 2023 Member Contributer Share Posted April 12, 2023 I'd be in. Turns out the rubber caps I zip tied on way back when will dry rot and crack after a while. Might as well get something nicer right?

Member Contributer Skids Posted April 23, 2023 Member Contributer Share Posted April 23, 2023 If only you'd had those a few months ago.... Makes a big difference to the low end smoothness of the throttle and is easy to do.
