I have seen the No-Mar cones for rear wheel balancing.

Has anybody seen or come up with any other clever way to set up the rear wheel onto a conventional balancer?

Marc Parnes is an option. Not the cheap option you sound like you are after. It was a little difficult to figure out which cones I needed. I ended up emailing him a list of bikes that I needed the cones for (5-10 bikes) and he quoted the parts I needed. Balancer worked great.

Zupatun, brilliant suggestion on use of the jackstands. :fing02: Can't believe I was looking for a solution when it was right in front of me.

Cheers and thanks!

I'll just put this here.

I've had them for about two years now without any issue.

For some reason, very time I see/hear about this product, the song 'Medice Show' by Big Audio Dynomite pops into my head.

Let the tech in your local tyre shop car or bike do it, it that's only a couple of minutes & the wheel will be balanced dynamically in both directions. Home spindle will only balance in the round, not edge to edge. And it doesn't cost hardly anything !
