Forum CEO HispanicSlammer Posted February 20, 2013 Forum CEO Share Posted February 20, 2013 Hello From Colorado, not sure why but another Chinese member keeps reporting this thread for some reason, I think that its perhaps a mistake since there is no actual report with it? In any case sorry your first taste of American food was McDonalds - it hits the spot when you are hungry and dont have much time to wait around but its not even close to good food! I wish you could try some of the great american food I have had while riding my vfr across the USA, southern fried chicken, oklahoma steak, oregon ruben sandwiches, of course the craft beer too! Please dont judge our food by what you had at McDonalds. Thanks for sharing your motorcycle pictures.

Member Contributer Dutchy Posted February 20, 2013 Member Contributer Share Posted February 20, 2013 No worries, I'm well up on my geography and the political divide between Taiwan and PRC. Been to Hongkong as well, but that was before the lease ran out. We tend to stay away from politics here, even the word OBAMA gets some people's knickers in a twist Gong Hei Fard Choy!!! Rogue_Biker
Nice VFR's. I've never been to China but someday I'd like to visit. Hey now 'Slammer! Don't be dissin' Micky-Deez. It's not a bad place to eat. They serve fairly lean meats that are not dipped in grease (usually). When eaten in moderation the old Hamburger and French fries make a complete, healthy, meal. You've got the protein, the carbs, and some veggies. McDonalds is always a sure thing. When you're travelling in unfamiliar places, like in Asia, being able to go to a McDonald's is a nice treat. At least you know what you will get.

At least you know what you will get. For better or for worse, American brands respresent an aspiration held by other people in the world. MacDonald, Hardley Ableson glow of "freedom" "status" "wealth". I lived in Jakarta for 2 months in 1986. I figured taken my date to a famous indonesion restaurant would make her happy. Well, she preferred the "Big Boy" hamburger restaurant. she was mighlyly impressed. Also on the point of a known quantity, doing a 5 week audit in Taiwan in the early 90's (China content so ON topic!) the factory was located in Chung-Li. Which was a bit out in the boonies The food at the factory was centrally cooked by maybe 10 people for 1,000+ staff. Whilst it was no doubt nutricious, it was "different" from what I/we were used to. Same in the hotel. So we were overjoyed one evenng to find a MD in town. And after 2 weeks we went to Taipei for the weekend..... TGIF!!!!!!!!!!! So Yes, I like eating local (see my sig line where I have eaten...), but you cannot beat a good burger once in a while. Just donot Supersize it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-eRXuuH9AI And YES, what did I eat during my TMAC trip?
Member Contributer JZH Posted February 21, 2013 Member Contributer Share Posted February 21, 2013 Dutchy, with the number of "food pics" I've seen you post, are you sure you're not Chinese, too? Welcome, fellow PRC VFR riders! Too bad I cannot yet ride my VFR from Hong Kong into Mainland China (it is not allowed), but I am going to visit Zhuhai Circuit in the next week or so for a track day. So, it's almost like riding in China! Ciao,
