  1. Glad I get to ride one day with you guys...sad it's only one day... packed and ready to go 7am tomorrow. Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
  2. I guess if I had this version of the FZ-09 we could have kept up with Axel_7...? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  3. Oh my gosh...finally got all my motels booked and return trip mapped out. Feeling anxious about this big trip with my kid. When it's just me or my wife and I, I still get pre-trip anxiety, but this is different. I need to chill and let her to take care of herself...ugh! At least there are no worries with the big dirt bike! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  4. Looking more and more like the big dirt bike unfortunately... think I'm bringing the kid with me... Shame too, because I wanted to give you a go on the Fizzer and see how you like it. You will have to come back to Oregon! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  5. I second that! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  6. Ugh... sounds like a logistical nightmare. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  7. Track days over an epic once every two years trip? I dunno... Are you an instructor? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  8. I'm having mixed feelings...what started out as my yearly Moto getaway could be turning into something else entirely. I may have my sixteen year old daughter as pillion. That means I would have to bring the "big dirt bike"...ugh. I was so wanting to bring the Fizzer-09 to play with the VFR's... Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  9. Rob how difficult do you find it to install all new lines and get the system filled and bled completely of all air? Do you use a motorized vacuum? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  10. So what approximate day and time in Orofino? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  11. Would that be La Grande, Oregon? Isn't that only about 250 miles from you? I would be interested in trailering part way as well. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
  12. Booked at the Chief Motel...no more rooms at the Rocket except for a family suite. Tentative for me, but really want to make this happen if you guys can tolerate a stinky Yammie triple...Or if I ride out I might take the big V-Strom...decisions...
  13. Think we maybe met you last summer in the Fossil, OR area? Anyway, are you riding the Tuono out from Portland, or are you trailering?
  14. Retired my old 2004 VFR in 2011 (crash), but just picked up a new to me 2007 and was pleased to see I still had a Mobil1 M1-108 and a Bosch 3300 in my oil change box!
  15. If you guys will let me ride my V-Strom 1000 I would be in! Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

Old Spiral Highway to be exact...been there, done that too. In fact I traveled down that road to look at the 2004 VFR800 for sale that I eventually purchased...
  17. Snowing in the Sooner state...ugh

Very cute...watch out Dad. She is going to be a handful...
  22. I had a low speed low-side early this summer on my now gone VFR. It was on some switchback (10 mph hairpin) corners on a moderate hill in the Ozark Mtns. My mistake was getting too far to the right side of the pavement in a left hander. Left over from the spring thaw along the road edge, there was some chat (finely crushed rock) that the Arkansas highway department uses during the winter for traction. While I was leaned over I cracked open the throttle to exit the corner and exceeded my traction limit in the chat. Before I could say "Oh $4it" I was down. Personally the only thing hurt was my pride and ego, the bike however was a total loss. I did not hesitate to get back riding as soon as I found a replacement bike and my insurance settled. For a while I was somewhat less confident in leaning the bike over in moderately severe lean angles, but that has disappeared. Now I tend to make assessments of the road surface more frequently and stay away from the road edge in corners. This has been a new challenge for me as I was in a bad habit of "trusting" the road surface and looking as far ahead as I could generally. My new mission is to increase the speed of my road surface scanning so I can do it more frequently without losing my "big picture" for maximum reaction time. I think if my crash had been not due to a mistake on my part (like a deer coming out of nowhere at speed), I wouldn't have been so able to recover so quickly.

Pretty awesome that a 20 year old bike can look so good...
