They weren't bad when new, but once I passed 2000 miles, they really started to wear uneven and started to feel pretty crappy.  I think I only got about 4000 miles out of them.  Unless you do a lot of rain riding, I don't think the PR4 is that great on a VFR.  I like the Dunlop Roadsmart line and the Angel GT the best.

Interesting. I got 10K out of my PR3's (same pattern as the 4's but a harder better wearing compound) also unfortunately \I rid in the UK so I don't get a lot of choice about riding in the rain. not tried ther Angel GT but I'd rate the PR3's over the RoadSmarts in the wet any day.

I've been using PR2s for years and they tend to go about 10k also. But I no knee-dragger and I do not live near any mountains.

I've noticed that in a lot of pics, including mine, it seems tough to get the gold of the wheels to really show.

Any ideas?

I haven't done any dedicated photo shoots yet of my new VFR BUT, for best results, it's probably going to take some dedicated off camera flashes or external lighting to really get the wheels to light up, also a good cleaning of the wheels to include a full detail, sealant and wax would also help to get the desired effect.

Cheapest route might be some good direct early or late golden sunlight will help before you try other camera gear.

Good luck!

Trip out on some of my "local" roads, a 300 mile rideout. Views of Eilean Donan castle from above, Sgurr a' Chaorachin and Na Choichan rock  at Bealach na ba (Applecross pass).Loch Cluanie.

The Car is a Sunbeam Tiger  V8  this is one of 6 prototypes used in the development of the  final product.

By 'Eck that is one Butt Ugly Alpine. I can't believe Rootes Corporation would use Escort Mk1 Forest Arches and that 'OOj rear wing. I thought the Tiger Prototypes all used the Mk1 body with the more pronounced fins on the rear wings/light enclosures.

What Sacrilege

I'm just going on what the owner said. "It was one of 6 prototypes made"  thought the escort was made later?

Will try an upload some more pic if required.

Nah, I'm good. I don't think my eyeballs could take the shock ! I could be wrong and I may be making assumptions but those are suspiciously like Mk1 Escort bulges and as for that wing?

Not even remotely considering it at the moment. Will wait until I have more then half a day available to think about it.

If lack of (easily available) hornage on the M25 doesn't kill  me first!

It's the PR4 that has the harder wearing compound, not the PR3, so should last longer, if only marginally. The improvements over the PR3 are minor but I'll take that when emergency braking in the wet.

Review here.
