Member Contributer Grum Posted March 31, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted March 31, 2015 Thats a long bit of pipe, kinda like a rocket launcher! Seems like a very long section of pipe that is unsupported, hope the mount point is very substantial. Can't see it being Honda pannier compliant, looks old tech. Its thumbs down from me. Member Contributer Rectaltronics Posted March 31, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted March 31, 2015 I know some people have been asking for a high mount option. I can't decide if I like this or not. http://staintune.com.au/collections/new-products/products/honda-vfr-800-high-sports-muffler to I really like this! But I guess it'd be too good to be true to have this work with the luggage, right? Good luck with that.
ShadowJP88
Does anyone think it would be possible to fit a cbr650r exhaust out something like it under the vfr?

ShadowJP88
Replacing the collector with a muffler? Lol I was thinking at something like this guy done to his RC36 http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/72507-vfcruiser-show-off/page-3 That would be way nicer than every exhaust released yet

DriverDave
On order soon to be delivered :) That's the exact setup I'm thinking. Wish I could see a pic of that one on a red bike. The pics on their site are good, but they don't have the carbon tip.
01ragtop
It started to snow just as I finished fitting it so this is the only pic I have at the moment. The screw that holds the baffle in has a small weld on it but it didn't take a lot to break it and pry the baffle out. It's smaller/shorter than the Akropovic pipe, It's also deeper in sound and louder too. Haven't had chance to ride it yet as it's still snowing here. I'm leaning towards the Remus. Do you have any more pictures of the bike with the Remus can? Did you go titanium or aluminum?

01ragtop
IXIL has a couple of options now. Not my favorite, but looks being subjective, thought I'd share.
01ragtop
I emailed Competition Werkes asking them if they are developing a new exhaust for the VFR800F, and here is their response: "Yes. Eventually, but we have many other models that need to be done before the VFR. Check back in Nov/Dec. Shawn Shawn Ryan Competition Werkes Inc. (800)736-2114" I like the look of the exhaust they did for the 1200, so I'm hoping for something similar for the 8th gen.

vtwindr
finally decided on the Remus Okami stainless. Ordered yesterday from Calsport and here less than 24hrs later. They seem to have ditched the stickers and embossed it instead

vtwindr
someone help me out here. took OE can off, new one won't fit. Instructions say should just slide on but it will only go a couple of mm. That shiny stuff is soft at the edge. I've never done this before and am struggling what to do, old pipe fits all the way over that shiny bit
vtwindr
i think someone has messed up. The pipe is bagged up as VFR inkpipe, 54mm. I'm measuring it at 50mm
Member Contributer MadScientist Posted May 1, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted May 1, 2015 That "shiny stuff" is an exhaust gasket. I would say that more than half of the aftermarket pipes I installed require you to remove and throw away the OEM exhaust gasket -- they go directly over the pipe. Usually use a narrow scribe to help separate the gasket from the pipe. When installing the new pipe, I liberally apply Permatex Ultra Copper to the sealing surfaces and then crank down the exhaust clamp. If it is not sealed, you may get some popping or an audible leak from the area. http://www.permatex.com/products-2/product-categories/gasketing/gasket-makers/permatex-ultra-copper-maximum-temperature-rtv-silicone-gasket-maker-detail Oh BTW - a measuring tape is terrible for small things like this. The hook is almost NEVER at true zero.

vtwindr
got there in the end this is with the baffle insitu. Sounds nice at tickover and that lion which appeared when the VTEC kicks in is now a T-rex. Had to keep checking over my shoulder as I thought I had a powerranger bearing down on me. Baffle screw is spotwelded but I think I'll leave it in for now to be sociable
Orkid101
Looks good mate, glad you got there in the end. The weld on the screw breaks easily, sounds much better with the baffle out ?
