Aftermarket Pipes For Gen 8

Recommended Posts

So far as far as I know the Akrapovic is the only pipe available for the gen 8, so maybe we can post here if peoples become aware of any new ones that become available.

The Akra is not readily available from the usual sources either, and the sewing machine sound of the stock doesn't quite do it...

Thanks in advance.

There is a clip of a "pipewerX" slipon on youtube.

Interesting, there is no listing on the pipewerx site for this bike so I am starting to think that a Gen 5 slipon will work, especially if the rear support is the strap type.

I would buy any can for the 5th gen and have a mid pipe bent at an exhaust shop. No need to wait!

+1

If is not available "off the shelf" get creative!

MSRP of $785.95. Was on the phone checking for price and availability when my dealer called to let me know my new VFR800 is there and in the crate, I will pick it up tomorrow.

We are in luck!

Any gen 5 pipe will fit. I just tried an OEM gen 5 pipe and it fits perfectly, right down to the footpeg hanger and the mainstand bump stop.

No need to bend anything

Thanks for testing and clearing that up! That should mean that the 8th gen has a huge selection built on and the 5th gen might have a few new choices soon.

No need. The mid pipe from the 5G will work. Now to convince Dogman to get a 13" tri-oval from Delkevic. ;)

Edit: I spoke too soon... ;)

Much better with the Dam exhaust! Still not as good as the under-tail exhaust, not anywhere near...

So that means the Micron high mount that I have on my 5th gen would fit. Nice!

Don't get too excited. High mount support brackets might not fit the 8G.

True, however it wouldn't be that hard to fab one up. Heck, you may beven be able to do it with off the shelf stuff at a hardware store. Probably have to notch the rear fairing though. I did on my 5th gen.
