timmythecop
The painter calls this "eggshell black" The original plan was to have black with a matte clear, but he decided on this. He said it was black epoxy (HUh?) It looks alot like the Asphalt Black on the 6th generations. I will document the new look so its not just an urban legend, but I must insist on still calling it "The Yellow Peril"

Member Contributer Rice Posted April 9, 2008 Member Contributer Share Posted April 9, 2008 Very nice shade of black! Me like! I must insist on still calling it "The Yellow Peril" Oh, I know. Ho about some yellow decals to qualify for the name?
timmythecop
yes the tank was in the baby seat. No decals unless I can find a skunk-works skunk sticker in black. It wasnt easy to put back together becase of slightly bent fairing frame and dubious chinese double bubble. Also, the painter used the opening for the fuel pump to hammer out the dent and he bent the lip that seals against the gasket for a seal. Leaky leaky. I used a hammer and spoon and many many attempts to bring it back into shape, but it finally sealed!!!!!! starting...... getting closer....... starting to look stealthy...... I admit, at this point I was pleased the other side was pleasing too the cheap chinese double bubble the Jaylo pic a cheap and easy solution to the dumbo delema and again reminds me of an asphalt 6th generation here honestly, I prefer the looks of my 2000 dollar honda. Really.

VFR4Lee
The first pics with the baby seat look like a totally different color than the later pics. I think it's the lighting in the first pics.

For a reference, look at the seat. All of our seats should be the same colour. The paint is just a shade darker thatn the seat.
enzed_viffer
I like it! But not the "dubious chinese double bubble". The shape doesn't do much for the bike from the side view.

I agree it isnt the best looking, but it sure is comfy behind that sail.
SLO97VFR
Nice outcome! I too had a cheap double bubble and although it didnt look good it sure helped! How much did they charge for all the painting and prep?
timmythecop
Nice outcome! I too had a cheap double bubble and although it didnt look good it sure helped! How much did they charge for all the painting and prep? The tank had a nasty dent and the right lower was ground down a bit. So I traded the guy a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse with 280,000 miles on it that I got for free (Really just wanted it out of the driveway anyway.) I ve got less than 2000 in the whole bike. I lucked out by getting one of my all time dream bikes for so little. Also, am I the only one who has painted the rear 2 thirds of the dumbo ears? PS: I LOVE THIS BIKE! Member Contributer AvalonRacing Posted April 11, 2008 Member Contributer Share Posted April 11, 2008 Looks very Mad Max. It should as it's one of the "last of the gear driven cams" (say with an Aussie accent). I'll keep a lookout for you as I'm in MD too. I'm in Baltimore on the (faster 'cause it's red) 5th gen. Member Contributer dr.toto Posted April 11, 2008 Member Contributer Share Posted April 11, 2008 Black epoxy such as DP90 is primer. It turns gray when exposed to uv rays.
