Great article. Thanks for posting. I could easily wallpaper my garage with any number of the bikes / engines pictured . . .

great article but some almost unforgivable (considering it is a Honda website) mistakes/typos with regard to dates, missing a couple of key dates by a decade.

Thanks for the link.

I know this is from forever ago in internet time, but it seemed like a good place to ask the question.

Does anyone know how Honda ended up with the RWB color scheme?

Maybe they remembered the Dutch VOC flag on the ships at Hirado/Desjima and said "now that was a lovely color combo"?

If this is to be believed : http://world.honda.com/design/colors/tricolour/

Masakazu Matsuzawa based it upon North American AMA riders race wear.

Thanks, that article is a fun read!

Not entirely related, but I thought these might interest people looking here too.

Both of these are car oriented, but still interesting to me at least:

And a little drier

I would say Kawasaki Green, for sure

Suzuki Yellow offroad, Blue/White on road

Yamaha, from Yellow/Black to Red/White and Blue

I dont know for the other but I belive Yamahas colors has came from racing sponsor colors, so the Red/White from the 80´s Malboro colors, and the Blue from the France racing team that was blue and sponsored from Gauloises cigarette company. The Yellow and Black that they had earlier I dont know where it came from, the 1984 RD/RZ350 had that colors in the states like erlier race bikes road and offroad....Maybe Suzuki also used blue and white racing colors that are from a cigarette brand? Cigarette companys was huge sponsors back in the 70´s-80´s for motorsports. Honda had Rothmans, but still used RWB....

Dunno if anyone of you have read Julian Ryder's book, V-Force, it's a history of the Honda V4's, especially in competition.

It's very very good.

It's also very expensive!

All of the "BIG" four Japanese as other brands try to be the best, all had bad and good models. I happen to have 3 of the "BIG four´s" brand in my garage, and all are good bikes in my opinion.
