Member Contributer Dutchy Posted November 25, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted November 25, 2017 This weekend Kawasaki NL (and owners club) are showcasing their line up in the national military hardware museum. VIDEO0226.mp4 You paying attention Timmy? Turbosaurus maximus I asked the staff outside nicely if it was OK if I...... No problem! Few degrees above freezing, a wee bit nippy... Member Contributer Stray Posted November 25, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted November 25, 2017 I’m loving the retro handsomeness of that Z900. Looks like a classic but has all mod tech (USD forks, liquid cooling and FI).
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted November 27, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted November 27, 2017 Could not help it, getting a 2nd RC51 SP2... Even in the same beautiful color scheme. So here is #1 And here #2 :-)

Member Contributer Dutchy Posted November 29, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted November 29, 2017 Might be the last ride this year, but whilst there is only a light drizzle, any ride is a good ride. Member Contributer Dutchy Posted December 2, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted December 2, 2017 It's *that* time of year again.... (yep, our son cannot be bothered to affix the coat protectors on his bike properly....) Friggin' cold outside, I need a wee dram... Young or old... Member Contributer Dutchy Posted December 3, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted December 3, 2017 Booked a trackday at Assen; the monday following the Superbike weekend end April. My 1st ever; riding bitch with Mamola on the 270bhp GP16 Duc doesnot count I reckon. (track)"Virginity can be cured" right? Undecided if I take the VF or the SP, but there is time still ponder. One thing is tires; the event sponsored by Pirelli, you are required to show up on Pirelli's. Tyre choices for the SP are plenty (and the Conti's are nearing the end anyway) , but for the VF500F2 I only find "Sport Demon". Any other P hoops out there???? Running BT's at the moment. @sportstu
douglasthecook
Go with the SP, it'll sound so much better!!! Plus, you can act like you're C.E. II
jeremyr62
Yeah not much in the way of decent rubber in the OE VF sizes. I really doubt PIrelli will make more than one type of tyre in those sizes. If it were me I would still go on the VF. Less chance of crashing it. Remember the saying, "Trackday Sunday, Ebay Monday". Been there, got the tee shirt.
Sweeper
Take the SP and your head.... First track day shouldn't lead to any problems if you take the right tools.

Member Contributer Dutchy Posted December 16, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted December 16, 2017 HEL ran a 40% discount promotion, so I decided to replace the 31 year old brake lines and buy new ones. Black, in keeping looking classy The clutch line is not a simple, banjo on either end affair, so no replacement there...

Their 5 and 6 Gen kits have the connecting block for the hard cross over lines, either way 40% is a good deal. Was it from HEL directly or through a re-seller, as I'm thinking about replacing the lines on mt\y '95 900 Super Sport.
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted December 16, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted December 16, 2017 Directly and only on their .co.uk website. Maybe she will now get an Oberon slave :-)

It was a yo-yo dyne that I replaced it with.
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted December 17, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted December 17, 2017 The 40% was a one-day only. Will drop them a mail asking if indeeed they have a clutch setup (like the 800) for the VF500F... nothing ventured... :-)
Member Contributer JZH Posted December 17, 2017 Member Contributer Share Posted December 17, 2017 I could make that line, so I'm sure HEL can! Ciao,
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted December 29, 2017 Author Member Contributer Share Posted December 29, 2017 Will be fitting the shift star next week so checked the clutch plates. In case I need to order new ones.... Thickness well within spec, no warpage to speak of :-) Springs free lengthstandard is 60.9mm eith a 57.9mm service limit. After 40,000 miles they measure ~58.5mm. So I reckon they'll be fine for another stretch

Member Contributer Dutchy Posted January 20, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted January 20, 2018 Farkling the SP.... Factory Pro shift star+arm Clutch saver plus test fitting the chinesium bodywork I could pick up wealy cheap :-) And (as other RC51 owners reported) the cover's design 1.0 makes it interfere/push against the panel. So what is the best method to remodel/shape/bend outward the ABS a bit? Like half an inch.
