BrianF Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Talk about a dud...no euro colors, no flat/satin, no special schemes...just plain ol' Model T black. How long can the 7th gen really last? Quote
bayarearider Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I could work with that! DCT please... Quote
Member Contributer Ch.P Posted November 14, 2012 Member Contributer Posted November 14, 2012 I like it too. Always have been partial to black Quote
Member Contributer YoshiHNS Posted November 14, 2012 Member Contributer Posted November 14, 2012 Kind of like the Oreo color scheme some of the 6th gens got. Quote
Beck Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I think it would be a while till Honda puts any real attention back on the VFR Despite what we think, it really sits below a lot of bikes in their lineup in terms of priority. Us who had owned VFRs for a long time are pretty much used to it already.... Beck 95 VFR Quote
Guest Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Sport-Touring market is flat right now. Don't count on much to change for at least another 5-6 years. Quote
vfrflanders Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I think Phobe made a point. Last month I went to see the 2012 model (because I haven't seen one yet) at some dealers. Not 1 has them in stock, neither the Crosstourer. Quote
BrianF Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 I think I would be okay with the black if it was, say, $1000 less than another color option a la Ducati 848 EVO. Use it as a blank canvas. I certainly don't expect an updated or all new 1200 in the next few years. However, if they're not really selling any 1200s, what's the point of even keeping it on the market? Quote

In 5-6 years they will be focusing on electric bikes. The Zero DS is getting good reviews, other manufacturers will follow. I for one would love to commute on a powerful electric bike! Quote
AB-Oz Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 OT - electric bike? It better make broom broom noises :) Quote
Member Contributer 00Yeller Posted November 14, 2012 Member Contributer Posted November 14, 2012 I'll take a Dyson please... It has that no loss of suction thing going for it... Quote

Member Contributer crazybrother Posted November 14, 2012 Member Contributer Posted November 14, 2012 I don't know about anyone else but I really like the new 7th Gen. I've owned 4 VFR's now and this one is by far my favorite. And yes I'm bias. At first, I really didn't care for the Alien front end look but it has grown on me and I now Love my new girl Quote
Member Contributer dadofseven Posted November 15, 2012 Member Contributer Posted November 15, 2012 The Las Vegas dealer I bought my VFR from also let me demo the Zero electric Dual Sport. What a hoot!!! It rode it like crazy. Really fun. Only issue I had was the price and build quality. The little fairing was really cheesy, and not well built. But the bike was pretty cool. I got it to about 80, was pretty stable for a 250 size dirtbike. Quote

Guest Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I am glad I got the 12. I love the blue color. The black is too BMW to me. I love this bike. I was not 100 % sure before the purchase but with every passing mile l love this bike even more. This one is a keeper for me. There is no better sport tourer and if you use the bike for the role is was designed for you will be very pleased. All day long comfort, huge smooth power and rock solid high speed stability together with Honda reliability. It doesn't get much better than that if sport touring is your goal. Quote
Member Contributer dadofseven Posted November 23, 2012 Member Contributer Posted November 23, 2012 I'm not sure, I rode it in April of 2012. Probably a 2012. The price right now is just to cost prohibitive. It runs around 10 Grand. Quote
Auspanglish Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 I've tried both the manual and automatic 1200... wicked bike... gobs of power, handles just fine for it's size... it's like a 5th gen or 6th but on steroids and without the gear whine or VTEC kick... weighs only a little more and has only a slightyl longer wheel base... I'd buy one if I could afoord it... despite some of the mapping glitches and the budget required for tyres... Quote
Member Contributer kostritzer Posted November 24, 2012 Member Contributer Posted November 24, 2012 The black looks good, now they just need to drop the MSRP to get the bikes back into showrooms. How many people paid full pop for the 2010? 13K USD seems like a far more realistic MSRP for the basic model. For 16K that thing should have every factory farkle installed! Quote

I paid $16,000.00 cash even money to ride my '10 out of the showroom on June 13th, 2010 and I complained the whole way that they were taking me over the coals by charging that much but, I paid anyway and love my VFR1200F even though I knocked her over in my driveway last month and put $1,000.00 worth of scratches in her. Member Contributer mk2davis Posted November 27, 2012 Member Contributer Posted November 27, 2012 ^^^ I guess you're proof - “I don’t care how much a VFR costs, it’s worth three times as much.” Quote
Guest Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I just paid 15900 OTD in CA for a 2012 and I love it. Do I wish I could have gotten it cheaper, of course, but doesnt everybody. Quote
Member Contributer kostritzer Posted November 27, 2012 Member Contributer Posted November 27, 2012 Well, I guess there are people regularly paying over 30K for a Harley bagger... I know its apples and oranges, but it sure makes the VFR look like a hell of a bargain! Quote
