Is anybody liking this newly released XSR by Yamaha with late 80's GP bike retro look and gorgeous paint scheme.

Wish tail was a little less boxy but other than its pretty nice.

I think I would buy one.

A friend who loves it and I, who hate it, have been having a conversation. It is hideous. Stupid modern short tail. Silly fairing. Dumb paint. It looks nothing like a tribute to Roberts or Marlboro. Yuck. The grey one is better, but still pretty terrible.

I certainly don't hate it, actually quite like it.  I think the tail could be little longer.  Also, I found this picture of a Marlbolo FZR400 with the correct tail size and similar paint for reference..

And to say it looks nothing like a tribute?...

Right...the body is all wrong. Those two posted are okay, but hardly beautiful.

FZ750? Beautiful.

FZR400? Lovely, especially in grey/blue.

R9 or bust for me...lovely engine. Designers who actually talked to each other. 🙂

That XSR looks like 10 guys designed it and never talked.

It's a race livery tribute...   "beautiful" isn't necessarily the mission.

I never really liked the XSR900, I thought it was ugly.  But that treatment gives just enough late 80s / early 90s vibe for Captain 80s to make it ok.

MUCH rather have an FZR400...   in any color.

I with Captain 80s. Damn that tail looks odd though.

But maybe bikes are looking so bad these days with all black or gray colorways the second i see anything with an 80 or 90s paint scheme its looks so good.

Keep in mind my previous bike to my storm trooper white VFR was a 25th RWB edition VFR with white wheels.

Still to this day no bike I have ever owned has garnered more attention than the 25th.

Eg.: My buddies Ducati V4r next to my 25th and people keep coming by to take pics or ask questions about the 25th. LOL

I still miss the 25th

Ride safe.

IMO the Yamee XSR tribute is fuggly. Much prefer the look of the R7 Anniversary.

Now that looks like a race rep/ tribute ( IMO)

I do like that one better for sure, but I'm not lovin' the angle of the signature Yamaha stripe.  Too droopy, it looks like a generic "Yamaha Stripe" you apply to any bike and cut out vent holes and my Aunt did it.  I know they were going for a "TZ" look, but meh.

Forward and down, like a Yamaha Race Bike.

To me, it looks...BMW dumb. Maybe Royal Enfield dumb.

At least the Scram looks like they tried.

I hate red bikes, but that is also so much better. I'd love to see it in blue/white/gold-yellow! I mean, really...what is nicer looking than this? Lovely even with the bikini fairing and chin? I think so.  🙂

Meh factory version is a bit of a dogs dinner. The aftermarket set is much better. But still just a posh frock for an average bike.

I just discovered Toyota do a 4x4 GT Sport version of the Yaris 😳. Now that's what would sell in bike terms, not a fairing with a paint job !

Lower fairing version pic. Looks even better. If only we can sharpen up that rear tail. LOL

I still like it.. Looks like a great sport street bike with good power

The XSR looked good in the yellow/black that Yamaha sold it in, but that one at the top is trying too hard to be something it is not. I don't dislike it, but I prefer to update the '80s Yamahas than retro the new ones. The RZ is mine and the TZ belongs to the friend who sold it to me 25 years ago. Next up it is getting an FZ600 twin headlight upper grafted onto the RZ lower fairing, the only feature of the bike that I have never liked is the square headlight. Also have some stainless pipes for it. It feels like a bicycle compared to the VFR.

And the fact that it is about 6 inches too high for my aesthetics.   BUT...  that is a cool RZ!!!

My general rule of thumb is, top of the headlight even with the top of the tank.

The upper on the 500 is the same part, but suits that bike better. The FZ600 upper will help with the visual balance.

...and thanks! It makes me smile every time I look at it.

Still got the boxy tail but at least the stripe should be less offensive to Captain 80s!

Pulled the image from RideApart; apparently Japan only
