  1. There's a 1993 on the Bainbridge Island C/L for $1400 - in much better shape than that. The plastic is all there, but needs some work. That's a lot of hassle to get a wheel - buy the bike, bring it home, part it out or re-sell. Probably easier to just buy a wheel.
  2. I think when my VTEC's valves get out of spec and the CCT's go bad, rather than deal with all this I'm going to hunt down a 5th gen motor and make the swap that HighSideNZ did. I hope I'm up to the challenge . . .
  3. I don't believe 5th gens had any recall issues.

Great looking 3rd gen. Can't go wrong with a '93.

Great shot! Looks like a good calendar candidate.
  6. Hopefully the seller is cooperative. Ebay "buyer protection" is difficult at best and turned out to be useless to me in a similar situation. Best of luck with it.

Great photo Tammy! Going on 3 years already?? How did that go by so fast?
  8. "Hope you find this entertaining. It's entertained me for about an hour and a half so far." I enjoyed it (maybe not for an hour and a half though). It's always interesting to see how people fabricate things. It would be great to have some machine tools to do this kind of work.
  9. Nicely done! Thanks for posting. By the way . . . I think I know who that might be right behind you in the still before the video starts . . .
  10. As will your knees. Great mod. I switched bikes earlier this year with another member on a ride and felt folded up like I was stuffed in a fridge. I wouldn't run a VFR without 'em. The brake light thing can a bit tricky (at least on a 6th gen). I finally got a very small keychain split-ring at a hardware store and threaded it through the hole in the brake pedal and then through the end of the spring that goes to the switch. That gave it just enough extra length to keep the brake light from being on constantly.

That section is always worth doing twice - get to the bottom, turn around and go back up for another run. Great viewpoint of Mt Adams for photo ops, too.
  12. My 6th gen Remus system leaves just barely enough room to clear the hugger. I can't even get my little finger in between. It's never rubbed but is definitely a tight fit.
  13. This is the 3rd shot in just a week + that would be great in the calendar. Really cool. I didn't realize VFRD has so many good photographers!
  14. The recall went through 2005. Call the nearest dealer and read them your VIN # - they can tell you if it's been done. This thread from the Superhawk forum discusses why R/R's eventually fail and the behavior they often exhibit when they do - might give some insight in to the fluctuating voltage. http://www.superhawk...-why-how-25117/

Another calendar candidate! Beautiful bike - great shot.

    Same nice road

That looks like a good candidate for the calendar! Great shot.
  17. I think the OP is referring to the turn signal lenses. From '02 through '05 they were amber with clear bulbs - starting in '06 forward they have clear lenses with amber bulbs. I'm guessing he's thinking about a swap.
  18. One trick a friend showed me is to get some of the extra large zip ties at H.F. and run a few around the tire then between the bead(s) and rim and cinch down tight. Getting the two beads down in the drop center of the rim makes it easier to get the tire off / on. He claimed he could remove a tire using just the zip ties - maybe 5 or 6, but I haven't tried that so far. Since I'm also a cheapskate I use a dental tool to pull back the latch on the zip tie so I can re-use them.
  19. Maybe the best opening post of all time - easily a top 10! There's also all the other mods (which look to be too many to count) . . . we need to see this bike with its clothes off!
  20. The 5th gen FSM is free to download in the Downloads section - it should be in there. http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/files/file/171-98-01-honda-vfr-service-manual-optimized-bookmarked/
