  2. If you're an owner, chime in if you voted for the one you have. I didn't forget all the friends in the UK, Australia, Canada and other countries - however I do not have data on colors that were available there and elsewhere and over what years, so they were not included. The Black / White was not sold in the US but seems to show up frequently so that was added. Cheers

  4. Nothing tricky at all, have transferred heat shields from one set of 6gen pipes to another. Simply remove the screws from the main shield and from memory l think they slide slightly rearward to detach them from the rubber mounts. The rear end shields can then be unscrewed and removed, simple process. Of course this can only be done with the exhaust removed from the bike. Cheers.

  5. Hopefully that will make it an interesting poll. I did not vote for the one I own and am frankly somewhat surprised that it got any at all! If money were no object I would add 2 6th gens - a Candy Red & RWB. But, the realities of life and finance preclude such a thing. The long run of the 6th gen gave us a lot of color possibilities - it will be fun to see what members like best.

  6. Mine is my key chain. So many good uses for a rubber . . . . . . band. If you get bored, no need to toss: stretch - launch - retrieve - repeat

  7. Just because I'm paranoid does not mean they are not out to get me! 'Cause they are!

  8. Man! Cogswell. That is one tough question. While I am firmly in the Fifth Gen Fanatic Club, in The Fastest Color SubClub, the Oreo scheme really rings my bell. Loudly. There is no doubt the RWB is a classic. But I consider myself a Modern Man and the white/black combo is Modern Art.

  9. Team VFR, red is the traditional colour, and thus like it. Silver of all shades is brilliantly classy on our bikes. I hate saying classy as if you have to call that out then it's not. 🙂 But it is! The RWB to me are Freddie Spencer HRC US colours. I have to also add the 8 spoke wheel and wheels in white make it the bomb. My vote, overall then is the 25th anniversary RWB. My .02c.

  10. While your at it, check the r/r and the wires between it and the stator. Mine died at the spring ride and turned out to be fried wires at that connection. Good luck with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. Okay, just give me "one" example of someone's VIN stolen off a forum, and what the outcome was. You can walk through any parking lot, used car lot, bike shop, mall parking lot and get a ton of VIN's. Now that you have them, what will you do with them? And if it was so obvious a crime scenario, why do they still put them out there in plain sight? The same goes for all those license plates out there free for the reading. You got 'em, what do you do with them? If there's a good reason to avoid something I'm all for it, but this stuff just comes off as more internet fear mongering. Kind of like those warnings about not giving out your bank account number. Just silly.

  12. I love the 2009 white and black but when it comes to VFRs or motorcycles in general the RWB 25th which I own gathers so much attention when I ride it's not funny. My ridng buddy who rides a nice red and black 2016 cbr 600RR said on Saturday to me: "Everywhere we stop everyone loves your VFR" LOL I do have a soft spot for the force silver with black wheels. Just my 2 cents. Ride Safe

  13. I've owned 2 Italian Red, but love the white. Cars, trucks, snowmobiles, motorcycles, they all look great in white IMO.

  14. Obvious bias here, but White/Black (Oreo?) for the win!

  16. What about the sticker on the side of the frame - that must match the stamped set on the steering head - very difficult to replicate. I can't see how they could think that someone's getting rich machining off numbers and replicating factory stickers on 20 year old bikes. Sounds like maybe the cops there don't have enough to do . . .

  17. I started combining bike tours and hiking about 15 years ago. That shot of the Wasatch range was taken after 2,500 feet of elevation gain--a lot of switchbacks were ... back switched by that point. I haven't found a way (or a camera) to adequately capture steep grades in photos. But to your point: 180 degrees from where that photo was taken was this: The summit of Mt. Timpanogos. We didn't go all the way to the top. We were already three hours in and though we started early, the temps were getting high and water was low. On the way down, we started to catch up to some other hikers. Speaking of small, insignificant things: They're the little dots of colour on the trail. A few years ago I was discussing summer holidays with a neighbour. She said: "So you must really like Neil Peart." I knew Peart was the drummer for Rush, but I thought it was a bit of a non sequitur until she explained that he had written some books about motorcycle touring, hiking--and playing stadium rock concerts. She lent me her copy of Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road. It was written after his wife and daughter died. He took to the road to work things out. He rides a BMW GS, but don't hold that against him. I read another of his books (Roadshow: Landscape with Drums, a Concert Tour by Motorcycle), where he rides between Rush gigs. I'm only a moderate Rush fan, but in those books he mostly avoids the rock lifestyle and writes about riding and hiking.
