Topcase Mirror?

Those of you with 6th gens that have/use the OEM topcase (mostly you Euros and fwd-thinking 'Mericans like me...I love the thing for near-daily use but see few of them on the road)...

Have you mounted any sort of mirror on the inside? I'd love to find/mod something to check eye contacts/helmet hair before going into work, etc. I was thinking a Goldwing topcase mirror would work, but they all seem to be lighted/overdesigned for something like I want. Doesn't have to be glass....thoughts?

IDK what the inside of the topcase looks like, but how about just a piece of mirrored polycarbonate (http://www.mcmaster.com/#polycarbonate-lavatory-mirrors/=11606o4) cut to the size desired with standard scoring type plastic cutter. Not sure if there is any material to screw it to, but I would consider using some of the industrial double hook style "velcro" (http://www.mcmaster.com/#hook-and-loop-fasteners/=11607e3 or http://www.homedepot.com/p/VELCRO-brand-10-ft-x-1-in-Black-Industrial-Strength-Extreme-Tape-91843/205185844) so that the mirror could be removed in a pinch for extra cargo space or use off of the bike.

Edit - Home Depot link might not work, search for item number: 205185844

I know you can buy one of those cheapo tall door-back mirrors from target/walmart for about $20. They are acrylic rather than polycarb, so not quite as durable but easily cut. You might be able to find a mirrored acrylic sheet at like HD or Lowes, but I can't say that I've ever run across one in the store. The acrylic is going to be much more flexy than the polycarb so you might get a bit of a fun-house effect

Look in the camping section of your favorite outdoor store. You should be able to find a small unbreakable mirror no problem.

There's a type of unbreakable mirror designed specifically for use in lockers. Should be perfect for the inside of the case lid. Some 2 sided tape should keep it in place.

I'm also a top case fan and find it quite useful. Not crazy about the look but I find myself almost always riding with it!

I try to not know what I look like. Why scare myself unnecessarily?

Afraid you might see the deer stalking you from the treeline? ;)

HaHa! So true. Being from Wis, I imagine you have a similar concern.

LOL. I guess I could look in the mirror and see how my hair looks.

But if I'm on the bike, I probably don't have a brush anyway.

But if i was commuting, and appearance was important, or I was feeling girly (not),

a mirror could be handy, I'd just glue one on inside the lid.

My solution is a #4 buzz on top and a #2 fade around the bottom. No hair dryer, no comb, no helmet head, and no barber. Instead of a $20 hair cut, my wife and I enjoy a few extra drinks on the patio after she cleans me up. (a sure sign of old age when your wife buzzes your head)

A cheap shower shave mirror from Amazon would work perfect. The one I bought is only $10 and is made from a non-breakable material and is only 6 inch x 4 inch size.

My Dad said it's when you use a wash cloth, no comb required.

I'll keep paying my haircut guy as long as I can. :goofy:
