Member Contributer Dutchy Posted September 21, 2021 Author Member Contributer Share Posted September 21, 2021 As you travel between provinces, the road surface quality differs dramatically. Between shyte (just like the USA) and peachy. Leon is the latter (but ofcourse )...

Member Contributer Captain 80s Posted September 29, 2021 Member Contributer Share Posted September 29, 2021 Judging by the sidewalls closer to the tread, they look like they were already OLD before you got them.

Member Contributer Dutchy Posted September 29, 2021 Author Member Contributer Share Posted September 29, 2021 Good thing I brought a spare rim with a new MITAS (half the price of the ICT crap) along. So that was a 10 minute wheel swap... Gilera designed the rear that allows the drum brake/chain sprocket in place. Unbolt the axlle, leave the chain adjusters in place. Member Contributer Dutchy Posted September 30, 2021 Author Member Contributer Share Posted September 30, 2021 Well, ICT responded right away and were appalled as well; based in Italy but have their tyres produced in India. Normally he'd file a claim with the factory after having submitted the defective tyres, but -great service- he reimbursed right away. I will send him sone sections with the worst cracks this weekend (I'm back at work...)

Well, it was my choice, nothing/nobody forced me. Not owning a garage space and owning bikes to ride, not to have, selling was the logical thing to do. I did find myself riding 200+kmh on public roads in a 100kmh country. Yeah, being 58 years old doesnot always mean "adult behavior" Where my 4th gen sparked no interest while trying to sell (so I gave it to my brother), the RC51 did. I effectively doubled my initial investment.... in 5 years while adding some 25,000kms to the odometer...

Leaving Las Vegas Heading down for miles and miles, after going up miles for miles Helping out a guy by the roadsidewhose chain link had gone, we carry spares for that very reason.. Using my Gilera's exhaust at WOT as a hairdryer on Saturno's magneto. In vain but at least we tried. Member Contributer Grum Posted October 1, 2021 Member Contributer Share Posted October 1, 2021 Dutchy, you need to have your blood pressure and cholesterol checked. You might also need a bigger bike and new riding gear before too long!
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted October 2, 2021 Author Member Contributer Share Posted October 2, 2021 U calling me a fatty? Nah, I didnot gain any weight in the 11 days trip. After day 1 in the mountains I considered spooning in a 175cc for next years rally. But after day 2 realised 150cc/7hp (on a sunny day) is more than adequate. Sure, Beemers, Laverdas, Triumphs would come blasting past on straight and level sections, but my 90kg bike, pretty straight steering and single seat with springs made for a very comfortable ride As for riding gear, my Goretex set (since 2018) performed flawlessly; as did my 6 year old (some 80,000km on them) Daytona GTX boots. My full leathers were perfect for the ride to/fro Spain . I did have to farkle a bit on the Biltwell visor on the AGV though. Upcoming draft was fine in sunny, 25C conditions, but in rainy/misty conditions high up in the mountains a drag.. Viva la Duct Tape!!

Member Contributer Dutchy Posted October 5, 2021 Author Member Contributer Share Posted October 5, 2021 Not all roads are peach perfect, higher up they can be riddled with crack and potholes due to freezing in winter. Or a 5 mile downhill strecth like this... (Glad it diddnot rain that day, the hairpin turns were "fun" enough with sun)
