Life is too short to drink cheap blends..... so the one bottle of blended whisky i own is Chivas 18yr.

the rest single malts.........

TOP TIP

stay clear of FABER, single malt from Germany........ as GRADUS can attest (I had him blind test 6 malts) :cool:

I imagine it to be the dram of choice in Hell...

Yeah I'm scotch man, Glenlivet or Chivas 18 year are good .

Bah, Laphroaig or Ardbeg are much better, and more manly :biggrin: ...

I have a better drink aging at this time, made from apple's and turned into some very good guality calvados. First i have to add some water to it, at this moment it is more than 80% proof. To manly i think :cool:

And nearly 800 litre's of the apple stuff waiting to be distilled. If not tasty enough, i'll make some good rocket fuel grom it. 96% proof is possible. :goofy:

Replacing the thingie is a few minutes work. U need a screwdriver and a welding iron

It is storm outside at the moment so will fit the pump tomorrow (if it is dry outside....)

I also finally changed out the original fuel fuel filter on my 95 this summer.

Out of curiosity, I cut open the old filter to see what kind of junk it intercepted in the fuel I've been feeding the bike through all the years. I was shocked to find nothing in the filter.....NOTHING! not even one speck of dirt or sludge even between the pleats of the filter element inside.Clean as a whistle! Only thing that looks old on the filter is the translucent white plastic outer casing that had yellowed a bit, but that's it!

We always wondered why there's no mention of change intervals for the filter in the owner or shop manuals for our VFRs........Now I know why.

So, Unless you can actually see an actual clogging condition with the filter from the outside or signs of fuel starvation with your bike, I don't really think that you need to change them out, unless it's really just convenient to do so like when working on the fuel pump (As Dutchy's doing) next to it just for peace of mind....

Hahahahaha Beck, you had me "dumpster dive" for the old filter!!

The new filter material is a bit orange looking, the old one is brownish.

With no direct sunlight, something must have caused the discoloration but no way of telling that this restricted the flow. There is some "blackness" in the filter though....

Never felt any hesitation in the engine.

But *maybe* the flow was restricted somewhat, casued the pump to get hotter and hotter and thus fusing the points and causing the short?

Rosso's point were worn away completely...

I / we will never know...

Here is how mine was towed after someone backed into me back in 09, I had to remove the seat and rear plastic to keep them from getting damaged....

While I was "dumpster diving" for the fuel filter, I also "recovered" the fuel pump thingie.

Set to work with some fine sanding paper (320/600)

Getting rid of all the pittings would probably mean that there will be nothing left.

the lower part can be easily loosened by pushing it in and slip the rear over the retainer ridge (top of picture)
