The FJ is waiting for a valve adjustment

Cover back on in picture to avoid dust, but a friend that works in a official Yamaha show will com and change shims a evening so all get to spec, non to tight bu most in minimum specs.

 

And then there was some motorcycle action on the concert I was to yesterday evening

FJ valve adjustment is easy! Do you have the proper tool? I set exhaust on the open end of spec and intake on the tighter end of spec so they have plenty of room to do their thing!

Hello to a Kawasaki ZR7S

More low rpm torque, better ergonomic for me, lighter clutch action, faster steering response.

I did go a see a ZR7S as I bought the Bandit 600, but it was in a sad state. This is nice.

I had perefere the blue color, but this red is ok, better than silver that is dull.

Hello to a Kawasaki ZR7S 

 

Congratulations on the Kawasaki!

 

A red ZR-7S was my first grown-up motorcycle.  It was really too big a bike to start on, but I did okay.  I sold it after about five months and bought a VFR.  I wonder sometimes what my riding life would have been like had I kept that Kawasaki.

As usual a old motorcycle you buy is not perfect, it has it's marks from it's life before and even this has genuine 50k kms on the Odo I think the brake fluid was OEM to!large.IMG_20240608_111459.jpg.7045804beb75f8bb89072890afbdbc7f.jpg

Didn't take pictures of it but bottom of front M/C was covered whit mustard like stuff, seen this one's before on a car that had been parked for 20 years.... Well fresh fluid in now. Remarkable is all move as should and brake performed great!

 

Well next was the tires that know was shoot.

Front was a 15 years old  Continental ContiForce, a budget tire back then, flat wear in middle as uneven wear and rubber hard, was actually scary to ride the motorcycle home yesterday in weather that was heavy rain showers at times

It was replaced whit a new Avon Roadrider I had around, it was actually bought for the FJ but a 110/70 fots better on its 3" wide rim. Ok it's not a radial tire but will do. If I don't like it I order something other online, Just don't like to wait a few weeks to get fresh tires as I just started vacation.

The rear tire on it was a 15 years old Pirelli Diablo Stada that had been distroided by running it whit to little air pressure, it's rubber was surprising soft still!

I think all understand why I did only ride bigger straight roads on way home 😁

 

Well some may call me crazy now, but did actually replace it whit a even older tire!

The Dunlop 220 that the CBR600F2 came whit. It's basically as new tread wise, feels ok soft the rubber also. Will just run it this season, even shorter if it doesn't feel ok.

It also fits nice on the 5" wide rear rim the ZR7S has, it looked cramped on the 4,5" CBR rim. If I recall correctly Dunlop had 2 castings for the 160/60 back then depending on if the motorcycle had a 4,5" or 5" wide rear rim.

 

Well I usually charge my tires # home, to get the bead off happens like this

Must say I really like this ZR7S Kawasaki!

First it has really comfortable ergonomic, even more than the Bandit!

Second it has a sporty front geometry so steering is fast, I like that!

Suspension is not sport bike hash but still not to soft, actually on firm side of comfortable suspension. Brakes are good.

Engine is sure old school, it doesn't rev as high as the Bandit, but it has lots of power in low rpm, torque, so nicer to ride around in lower rpm, ride lacy, but still power enough to be fun as you rev it out. Ok, power animal here, but enough to have fun in the twisty roads I mostly ride. 

Happy so far really 😎

Wish Honda would make a 1300 with a simular fairing like that Kawi..... All the good bikes seem to be sold in Europe..

Had a ride today on twisty bits, really like the ZR7S! I can't believe so many bad reviews I have been reading of it, mostly it's performance.

For my ride style it's perfect. I like torque in low rpm, as I only rev the engine out now as then on straights as going out on a faster road from a small one. Ok it's no power house at high rpm, but fast enough for me. Actually it feels like a V4 more than a I4 it is.

Handling is sweet in the twisty bits, and ride position is sweet also. 😎

Weather not as warm as it looks, after 22 really warm days temps are down to normal here

It's been a long time since I owned my ZR-7S, but I seem to remember it did have a decent amount of torque down low.  When I first test rode a 6th gen. VFR, I was surprised how it bogged down when I tried to accelerate from a higher gear at low rpms.  I was still a relative newbie at the time, with little experience on different bikes and different engine types.  Interestingly, I'm on my 3rd bike now, and on my 3rd different engine type - in this case a boxer twin.

 

I've seen the ZR referred to as a 'parts bin special, but to me the ZR was a nice UJM throwback.  You could get it with a fairing (ZR-7S) or without (ZR-7).  When I bought that first bike, I had been seriously considering a new Yamaha FZ6, but didn't want to sink so much money into a new bike, not knowing if I'd even like riding.  Ultimately, for me that Kawasaki turned out to be a terrific introduction to motorcycling!

Great, seem it's the ultimate ride for a old frat to 😂even I'm not that old but have owned a bunch of different motorcycles 😁 

 

Seems my thing whit motorcycle's is to enjoy twisty roads whit a motorcycle that ride them in comfort whit a flexible engine

Well could not resist to buy this brake line kit for the ZR7S

It's for front as rear, don't know if I will use the red anodized aluminum banjo bolt's that can along thro.

Not really a big fan of these color anodized banjos as bolt's but for the price of 30€ I think I accept them 😅

 

Was out on a spin on the ZR7S also

So decided to get a fresh set of tires for the ZR7S.

Did chose a local place as price difference was not big. Choice was down to Michelin PP2ct or Road5, Decided to get a newer offering even a higher price, after all even PP2ct is a really good tire it was introduced back in 2006 (the 2CT version) so

Fearly fresh to as made in end of 2023.

Then mounted on rim ready to inflate as balanced

It's nice whit a center stand as whit that and a front stand you  can have both wheels off same time

Even my wrists don't really enjoyed riding it I still enjoy it.

Does anyone know a motorcycle model that had a M/C whit remote reservoar for the brake fluid that is ½ or 13mm in piston size? Looking for one to make the RC24/2 clipons possible to fit.

Can't think of any road bikes with OEM separate reservoir and master but plenty of aftermarket options( brembo. HEL, Venhill for example - bit pricey mind). Don't know whether the setup you're after is a thing in the off-road OEM area?

Yep, Mohawk is right. Sorry Keny I am a twit; my old GSXR750K3 had a separate m/c and reservoir. I don't know what diameter piston it was though
