Well will take a while until it's possible to make a ride video, my wrist say so.

 

So today got tires mounted at a friend's, opted for matching pair fot the CBR600 so the Roadtec 01 was mounted on the TRX850 rim.

Well, bikes finally stand on there own wheels, must say the TRX850 rear wheel is way more easy to take off/back that  the CBR600F2!

Also even the CBR is in a very very nice condition, all older bikes has there faults, so this CBR. A small panel inside fairing next to screen started to rattle like loose on the ride home, well it was loose!

It's amazing what a heat gun can do to sun faded plastic

The Transalp has also muffler installed, and fresh tyre on the better second hand rear rim. No pics of that thro.

 

I also have started a other project, the FJ will get a 17" rear rim.

Got a 94' FZR600R rim for 40€

 

Then I buoght the rest needed from a breaker of a YZF600R Tinder at that has same rim, spacers as brake discs and brake caliper bracket

The breaker did not only brake down bikes fortunately, it also just sell on good bikes as build together bikes from parts. Good for these 2 in next pic's

So some small progress on Transalp even today.

Ballansed the rear wheel that I mounted a fresh tire on yesterday. It got mounted today on bike to. As wheel was off I mounted the superpinion front sprocket to help whit the worn splines.

Also the new turn signals got mounted, actually before the rear wheel was changed as you see the old wheel on bike in the picture

Then also mounted the right panel between tank and front fairing, that before was mounted whit a bolt at lower tank mount and was missing lower mount that I now fabricated, not pritty but works. The missing tab I did take from the other side panel that I changed for a better last summer. It's glued to panel but also a scruv thro the hole it had, just to be sure

Tomorrow just to mount the plastic skid plate under engine and check tyre pressure as add oil to engine! Then to fire up and wait until I get the right front brake lever, shop accidentally gave me a wrong one, part numbers has one digi difference. Will get it on Tuesday.

Well the Transalp is back together

But as the bike been just work, and the 87-88 models has some parts that are super rare to find, like oil pump chain as gearbox outgoing shaft, I decided to list the Transalp and actually got it sold yesterday! It's still in my garage thro, as buyer is picking it up whitin 2weeks.

And as I don't want to be whit out a adventure type bike, I hunted for a new one. I was looking at a 2004 650 V-strom in a shop that could have been reached if I would have traded in the TRX850, but decided to not, but I didn't want a thumper, so yesterday evening a nice looking 1996 Kawasaki KLE500 turned up not far from where I live, so did go and check it out, And guess what....

Yes, it followed me home!

Paid 200€ less than I got for the Transalp!

Needs basic TLC as fresh tires, as the onec on bike are from 2004/2005! Front is worn out as has cracks, rear has some tread left but time for new ones.

Aside for light corrosion on brake calipers as clutch side engine cover it's in really nice condition, 42600kms on odometer, could actually be that all is there as you look on bike, still OEM seat cover and it's like new! Bike has a nice 2-1 full Remus exhaust system.

So the KLE500 needed new shoes, a rear I had but needed a front, found a fearly fresh, DOT21,  Metzeler Karoo Street front for 25€ plus shipping, 34€ at my door. It's slightly used, I know they slightly howl så reason former owner did take it off from a bike he just buoght, I don't mind a low howl.

Then I did take carburators off for a clean

In to the ultrasonic cleaner all did go

As you see in picture new sparkplugs to replace the old. A bit digging let me know the older models has richer jetting as a bigger air filter box snorkel, haven't found a big snorkel yet but carb tuning bits found and on way. Talking of air filter, new was sure needed!

So good to go through a bike as you buy it.

And same time spoon on the rear. Would have preferred a bit more street ordinered tire, but the Mitas E07+ I have will do for now. It's a so called 60/40 tire street/off-road rato, the Karoo Street is a 70/30.

Slow progress but still some.

Carbs ready to go back on bike, Will Be nice to see how it runs whit the kit I got for them!

 

But first some other things to sort. Chain as sprockets first, front sprocket holding nut was really tight! Needed a friends help to get it loose! Well actually more than juts a friend, a long steel tube on the power shaft also!

Old front sprocket was wrong way mounted! So explain why the chain was ruined before sprockets was worn out. Sadly a new thing to get also, the other chain adjuster block in end of swingarm is cracked!

The small part fell off as I opened the adjustment nuts.....

There’s usually some of them on eBay ….one of mine was cracked and did the same thing

And a good thing I decided to change the O-rings in the tubes between the carbs, they might have been the reason for the fuel leak

The rear tire, a Mitas E07+ is quite huge in size for a 130/80-17! It's close to rubbing in fact, even it's a skinny 2,5" wide rime that these bikes got, even by norm the rim is to skinny 🤔

But it will be there until it's worn out, then have to consider if I go down in size to a 120/90 to get a better profile on tire.

 

Next is to fire up engine and sync the carbs, then tank, seat as panels back and it's ready for a test ride!

So the bike finally come together

and it was time for a test ride, both for riders wrist as the bike, well the rider did better than the bike.

It runs fine from idle to 4k rpm then it starts to jerk and won´t poll as should, at 7k it starts to pull som again....so have to look into it. only 2 oprions, doesn´t get fuel or R/R is shoot.

Well got the chain adjuster plate from the bracker, did pick it up

as I was there I also buoght a rear brake disc guard, but sadly I need a other part to make it fit my bike

As you can see from picture other mounting tab is broken off.... well a good condition one is on way, score on Ebay.

Also will try to find a right side passenger foot peg as there is a pit missing...

 

But the highlight of the wisit to that motorcycle breaker was this bike in next picture, that the owner of the breacker did say he will save!

Well as the KLE didn´t run good, but I was in for a ride I decided to take the 1992 CBR600F2 for a spin.

It did start but did run a bit bad becourse of sitting all summer. So first to the fuel pump for soem fresh fuel. but after the fill up it refused to start.... after almost battery empty found the classic thing, kill switch in bettwen on as off! must have touched it as pushed bike of center stand. After that it startded but didnt run on all cylinders below 4k rpm...gues a sprk plug has fouled...hopelfully

Did anyway go for a spin.

 

If you suggenst I could have taken the TRX850 instead, I could not, its gone, It partly became this thing in next picture (sorry not a motorcyle!)

😂 Only the KLE didn't like to rev more than 4k, the CBR just liked more than 4k rpm 😁

 

Tomorrow I get new sparkplugs for the CBR and hopefully change them Saturday as test KLE voltage

Picture nice but a bit rough indeed. Nice things are a Devil 4-1 exhaust, front brake discs nearly new, one year old battery as R/R and stiffer fork springs. As fairly good tires!

And needs a seat cover

And has a few cracks in farings but not to bad.

 

Biggest issue is that engine dies suddenly like ignition is switch off ....when runs it runs good. It dies after a 5-10 minutes, then starts after a 10-15 minutes wait and dies again efter a shorter time than first time it dies. 🤔

Some progress whit the KLE500.

Did pull carbs off, had a friend before that hear how it runs, a Kawasaki guru, and he agreed whit me it's runs, like he said "scary lean"

Whit the setup I have , small snorkel as jet kit for large snorkel it should run ritch. The needle jets looks odd to me.. kit jet at right, OEM left

The gold colored is from the kit of the needles, the other to OEM, Strang left ass right carb has different needle as main jets.

Anyway did put all back to OEM specific and vola bike runs ok again, even a tad lean still, but that's because of the aftermarket full exhaust.

 

Also got the holder for brake disc protecter

Finally made time to synk the carbs on KLE. And before that did pot O-rings under needle to give it more fuel as needles not adjustable.

After that did a test ride that did show it runs good enough, perhaps a tad lean still but ok for now.

Great fall weather for sure!

And bike sure ride well and whit this bike no need to avoid paved roads in no so good condition or gravel roads.

Well, I have to say the Remus exhaust on the KLE is to Loud for my liking, sadly,

The muffler looks like it's not easily opened for service.

It does have a db killer but sounds it's whit out backing inside
