  1. Excuse the little bit of oil that splashed on the window... I had just hopped off it and snapped a quick iPhone pic... And there appears to be a gigantic tree growing out of my gas tank. THAT part was not a SebSpeed custom part.

  4. Replaced my air filter. Still had the original one fitted, didn’t look too bad to me ? But I changed it anyway. Tank only had around 1 to 2 litres of fuel which made it much easier. Made sure the breather hose wasn’t kinked when I lowered the tank.

  8. I put mine back together again after removing about 20 years of English salty roads and criminal neglect. Yet to ride the 929 shock mod for an opinion. Better looking than it did when I picked it up.

  9. New rubber! (disclaimer: this is not a VFR--but close!) Replaced the aging Pirelli Angel GT's with fresh Michelin Power 5's. Why are new tires so exciting? Aside from a 1000 mile 36-hour Sierra trip with some VFRD hooligans, I realized the RC-51's miles have all been local, dry, and track day, so I went for sportier rubber. Also, the rear is a 190/55, which I loved on my 7th gen, vs. the 190/50 Pirelli. First ride today, photos below. Took it easy, but felt great--easier roll-in and better bump compliance. Don't know about edge grip yet. And last but certainly not least, I also installed the performance part I've been searching for, finally found exactly the right one, bottom photo.

  10. Hmmm...better check the brake fluid level. Nex minit: It is OK to run the hydraulics on used diesel oil and mud isn't it? They seemed (surprisingly!) to work averagely well on this before I opened it up (after 20 years). Apparently a similar viscosity, appearance and rank smelling oil was common to the forks too.

  11. After a ride, there used to be grit on the valve cover. I wanted to prevent the beautiful bronze from getting sandblasted over time.

  13. Replaced old carbone lorraine front brake pads with new carbone lorraine front brake pads. I think I got my money's worth out of the old pads !

  14. Put some new soft luggage on from Tourmaster and headed down to Philadelphia for a night ride. Bags shifted forward somehow, right bag coming to rest on top of muffler. Later I realized it had lightly fried a 2" spot on the bag. Right under the can of fix a flat I had in there. That could've been a hot gooey mess. So I discreetly bungeed the bags to the license bracket area to keep them pulled back and away from exhaust. But this seemed like a good excuse to order a semi=shorty Delkevic. Plus I'm trading up to a RideOn sealant instead...

  15. Mate. That looks Great. I've always liked the OEM bronze but the black with red trim tape looks very smart love it. Here's a tip....buy yourself a tube of Autosol Metal Polish and polish up the nice nickel chrome exhaust just under your right footpeg, it does a great job. Here's my bike and after 76,000k pipe looks like new. Cheers.

  16. Found this buckle in the rim a few weeks ago. Not sure whether it was from a cattle grid in far west Queensland or one of my local goat tracks. Didn’t ever lose pressure, but I couldn’t sleep at night. Repairing it mucked up the finish so I had the rims painted black.
