Member Contributer Gdog Posted April 25, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted April 25, 2018 Hi guys... I installed a Dam exhaust on my 2013 1200. Was working when I put it away for the winter with stock exhaust. Flap servo motor makes the sounds when the key is turned on. Got it running for about 15 secs 3 out of 15 tries. Throttle is unresponsive when it does run. Im guessing the ecu is mapped for the stock exhaust and maybe not enough back pressure..but I'm not reading about anyone else complaining. I do get the engine light warning after the start attempt, and after subsequent cycles of the key after the self test. Again, all was fine before instal of the pipe...any ideas? Thank you Glen
Member Contributer Gdog Posted April 25, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 25, 2018 btw ..inadvertantly hooked the cables backwards for about a full second..maybe i blew a fuse?
Member Contributer VFROZ Posted April 25, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted April 25, 2018 Your new exhaust won't have anything to do with it. The fact that it hasn't run for a long time might.
Member Contributer Marsman99 Posted April 25, 2018 Member Contributer Share Posted April 25, 2018 Check that you aligned the EGCA pulley properly after you removed the cables. Not 100% sure this would cause an issue with the ECU, but easy to correct and try.
Member Contributer Gdog Posted April 25, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 25, 2018 Thanks Marsman! I'll bet its not. So can I assume I want it in position 1?

If you meant battery cables, then that is probably your culprit. Blown fuse, burnt wires, fried ECU, list goes on. Or since it was put away for the winter, mice/squires/angry wife. Either way, it's probably electrical.

Nope, needs to be in position 2. The diagram shows the location of the flapper pulley when oriented properly. Rotate CCW from position 1. From this position the servo motor will rotate as dictated by the ECU with the engine running. It doesn't know there aren't cables connected, but does know the position of the flapper pulley. Member Contributer Gdog Posted April 29, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 29, 2018 Found it in Japan. I worked there many years ago on a contract. Had a colleague find it and arrange it for me. These things aren't cheap, but seems like a great find.

Member Contributer Gdog Posted April 30, 2018 Author Member Contributer Share Posted April 30, 2018 Hey Scottbott..actually that's pretty much my plan. Maybe take it out on sunny Sundays..but the 1200 gets most of the work. The thing that sucks about getting older, is, getting older...but you get to make a few fun decisions here and there 🙂
