Member Contributer Rush2112 Posted November 24, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted November 24, 2015 Gig, I'd weigh one for ya if I had one... Mohawk's got a new lightweighting post going on with a modded RVF rear hub and single nut rims. http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/82500-single-nut-axle-cush-drive-group-buy/
Member Contributer Mohawk Posted November 24, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted November 24, 2015 Hey gig, it's going to be roughly the same as the 6th gen, might be a pound or twos difference, it's got ten spokes compared to 5 on 6th gen, but roughly the same amount of alloy. The Phantom
You won't get close to the exact weight if you do it with tyre on - all tyres have different weights.
Member Contributer Lorne Posted November 25, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted November 25, 2015 Fwiw, the 1998-2009 5-spoke rear wheel weighs 12 lbs without tire, valve stem, or weights. So does the 1990-1993 8-spoke. Or at least that's what they do on my bathroom scale, and my guess is that the 2014's weigh the same.
CandyRedRC46
My understanding was the 8th gen was a lighter hollow spoke design.
Member Contributer gig Posted November 27, 2015 Author Member Contributer Share Posted November 27, 2015 If new dye cut alloy wheel is lighter as advertised, and i can fit the axel it could be a nice easy conversion.
