Member Contributer BusyLittleShop Posted February 15, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted February 15, 2010 First stop on the way to pick up my RC30 in San Diego was Paso Robels... there sat an RC45 that was advertised on Rare Sportbikes For Sale.Com... my friend Rich asked me to gave it a thorough inspection and test hop... then Rich rode an RC45 for the very first time... He liked it so much that we bargain a deal for 15K... now he's going to ride his own RC45 anytime... Next stop was Chris Dolan's place and to behold his 350 + bike collection... never before has someone's garage delighted me with so many rare and unusual bikes... On to Grant's place where we got the tour of his RC30 and RC45 collection plus a bike once owned by Lester Wheels... Z1 Rickman... not to mention a CB1100R... Grant also owns a large stash of HRC parts for the RC45... Finally Jim Grangers shop... Jim is the RC30 Guru and we swapped stories until 1 in the morning... we also had fun with an Nr750 piston... Jim's full race RC30 sports a HRC frame and an 5.5 RC45 wheel... Jim's street RC30 sports a Moriwaki dry clutch... What a lovely bunch of coconuts... We are not to be trusted with your engine... Now who's highly modified RC30 is this??? I think the triple clamps could use more offset... Jim and I try to replicate the tricky Devils at Honda by taking a round piston and pressing it oval... AB-Oz
Awesome report there, thanks for sharing the pix. an rc45 for $15k??? What was wrong with it? Mate it is almost worth examining the "import to Australia" idea again...
Member Contributer jaimev34 Posted February 15, 2010 Member Contributer Share Posted February 15, 2010 BLS: What does Chris Dolan do for a living (If it's not top secret)? I see him with a different bike every time I'm at Palomar Mtn. Yesterday, he was riding the BMW S1000RR. Last month it was the RSV4. He's got a BMW HP2, a Duc Streetfighter, Bimotas, etc. Damn!! Veefer800Canuck
Another Epic by Larry! Dude, you know everyone and get yourself into the strangest and most wonderful places. I still to this day love the story/picture about cracking a beer with Agostini in a traffic jam after the (Italian, Spanish?) GP! You really shut a mouth or three on ST.n with that photo! Can you repost here for us?

For those of us who are new to this sport and haven't yet taken on the adventures everyone talks about, it really keeps me movtivated for when I take my first big adventure. 2fast2young
BLS, you snuck in and out of So-Cal w/out even giving the VFRD crew chance to drool over Mr. RC45! So Sad! Do any of those gents you met up with need an able bodied young man to sweep their shop, lift engines blocks, and glean all the excess knowledge from their brains? Too many sweet bikes to count... :fing02:

What is that bike at the right? It looks like a track bike. Is it another RC45? The tail section reminds me of an ZX7R but I know that's not possible :goofy:

You don't know how hard I was praying for Eboz to beat Mladin when Eric was on the ZX-r and Mladin on the 'zook1K. And I simply LOVED that dual inlet Acropovic exhaust that they were running.
