2024 Spring Ride Official Post. We shall be holding forth from Franklin, NC once again this year. The dates are May 16-19th and lodging at the Rodeway Inn. I don’t have any special rates to speak of at the moment. Donna spoke to someone when she booked her room and they said to go ahead and book and we’ll sort any special pricing out when we arrive. There is something going on in town those dates so book A.S.A.P. I believe, and someone correct me if I’m mistaken, but I believe this is our 20th TMAC. Last year should have marked the 20th, but the cancellation of the 2020 ride negated that. Can’t wait to see y’all there! https://www.choicehotels.com/north-carolina/franklin/rodeway-inn-hotels/nc773?mc=llgoxxpx
  2. Our discounts have never been much anyway and definitely not worth risking not having a room. We have had trouble with hotels for years in Franklin due to other events and the lack of hotels in town. I'm booked! The Tigger got new suspenders last week and new rubber this week. Oil change and its ready to go.
  3. Pearl paint of any color is a tough match. It is a three stage paint. I talked to a VFR owner who's job was repairing high end Italian sports cars who happened to have a pearl yellow bike with some scratches. He said it would be easier to paint the whole bike again. I have an 07 Candy Glory Red and have been able to fill in some small scratches with a touchup brush and wet sanding. You don't see them until you are less than three feet away.
  4. Put it over the VTR pic as it is more of a VFR than the VTR was.
  5. I've used VistaPrint to do posters. I'm sure there are plenty of other online places. A lot of local places can do it now too like UPS stores.
  6. If I recall correctly, the connectors are different on the 06 ECM.
  7. The beauty of my life is that I don't have to track or budget anything. It may not always be that way but for now it is. I did do my first track day back in October at Polecat Training Center. It was an awesome day. Will do again.
  8. I was just reading about tracking miles for the year. I never do, finding it more important how I feel about it. That being said, I've not been riding enough in my retirement.

    Tire Set-Up

Over the years, I have noticed that when I change to a new tire, I often think its better. The end of life for any tire has less fun in it than the beginning. I quit buying Michelins because they are too expensive to not use completely. Started running S21's and had a ball. Tossed them when the fun was had. Moved on to Conti's and to Dunlop. Every time it gets better. Also, it is amazing how much difference a pound of air will make in handling. Go up a pound on the front and see if it feels better. Recommended pressure is just that.
  10. Merry Christmas Jim! I'm still here as well. We still meet in Franklin every spring but it's down to about 20-25 regulars who show up. Wish you were still coming because these days I'm one of the oldest😉. We are doing good if we get three VFRs. It's a testament to the people that we still have a crowd at all. My wife had her second back surgery the week before Thanksgiving. She had spent month looking for a doctor for this one and ended up at UAB. It was great to see her walking two days post surgery and it was without pain for the first time in years. Hope yours goes as well. As for riding, I've found a group of folks from North Alabama over on ADVrider and we get out for a day ride a couple of times a month. I'm riding a blue Tiger660 these days so give me a wave if you see me over your way.
  11. I suspect the bodywork on the 8th gen would not work with undertail exhaust. Makes me wonder it you could adapt a 6th gen tail to an 8th gen?
  12. I never had the pleasure but I'm sure I would have enjoyed knowing him based his presence here. So sorry for the loss of your friend Duc.
  13. Sorry that I missed your post. I was already up there riding. I'll look for you again in May.
  14. We all left for home on Sunday but there were a couple of VFR's and an ST1300 heading that way on their way home.
  15. And... I hate being on camera! I tend to ride the struggle bus on fast downhills and really appreciate the camera bike insisting on staying behind.😀
  16. It was an awesome week of riding! We had seven for the PreRide out of Little Switzerland and then eighteen for the FallRide in Abingdon. Thursday, we all were awaiting the arrival of three VFR's but one had an electrical failure mid route (what are the odds?). They arrived well after dark with the backup ST1300. We missed a few of the regulars but the turn out was good and what an excellent group to hang out and ride with! I've said it many times, VFRD is loaded with great people. I left my GoPro at home so there is no video from me this time. I'll do better this spring with a new camera mount and better editing...maybe.
  17. I'm not a big wine drinker but will have a brown water to your health this evening. Love the packaging idea!
  18. If you liked the CB500x, you should try the Tiger660. It's nearly the same specs as the CB but 80hp instead of 48hp.
  19. This event is still on for those of you not on FB. Just over a month out now. Rumor has it that I won't be the only one from Alabama this year.
  20. Forgive me if I missed it being mentioned. The 6th gens were notorious for crappy starter valve sync from the factory in addition to being lean. PC or other controller will solve a lot of the issue but to get it really smooth, get the throttles synced. You are dealing with a lot of issues from an old bike. It will be worth it in the end. They are very reliable when sorted and nothing beats the sound of a happy V4.
  21. until
The Fall Ride dates are Sept. 21-24. After looking at several different locations and accommodations I've settled on Abingdon, VA. I based this on the variety of roads in the area and restaurants. The motel will be Alpine Motel (276) 628-3178 https://maps.app.goo.gl/GWkHUijYCnGYoUEG8
  22. What a time to not be able to post pics. I'll just have to imagine. Lots of words Dutchy!
