RoystonRocket2
Looking forward to this. Sheene is one of the main reasons I got into bikes other than my 2 older Brothers. I don't have many sporting heroes in life, but Sheene is number 1.
Member Contributer hvfrdave Posted February 13, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted February 13, 2016 Got to agree with that, Sheene could do a lot more than just ride a bike very well, he had loads of self belief, personality, and most of all charisma. Not like most of the top riders these days, a right set of miserable bar-stewards. well maybe one exception, Rossi.

Member Contributer Cogswell Posted February 13, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted February 13, 2016 I only knew the name. Just finished reading a bit about him. Quite a story. Died too young . . .
Member Contributer Duc2V4 Posted February 13, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted February 13, 2016 I believe it's in one of the Faster/Fastest movies where Sheene talks about coming up with the idea of the Dainese back protector. He said he made a mock up using old helmet visors.
Sweeper
Maybe the times he lived in but he was pretty well known for his off track life as well.

Member Contributer adeyren Posted February 14, 2016 Member Contributer Share Posted February 14, 2016 Saw him many times in the seventies. His duels with Kenny Roberts were legendary. He was a great rider. Funnily enough he only raced once at the Isle of Man , early seventies IIRC on a 125 Bultaco and said he would never go again "too dangerous". A local memorabilia shop near me has one of his original signed helmets for sale - £5000. Clip of 175mph crash at Daytona BBC tribute
