Member Contributer Skids Posted July 31, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted July 31, 2015 A friend posted this on another site. I've not watched it all but looks interesting (and they ride VFR1200s!). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmZ7hhREZhI
f3racer
You know....with a long career in the army as a military police officer, with protective service, SRT, and being the motorcycle safety program manager i wonder if i could get on with that group. Member Contributer EhViffer Posted July 31, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted July 31, 2015 Found myself mesmerized - 30 minutes of escort footage - who would have thought? Ummm, "motorcycle escort" that is.Thanks for posting the link.
Member Contributer Skids Posted July 31, 2015 Author Member Contributer Share Posted July 31, 2015 Just finished watching it myself.....outstanding. A really great understanding of their roles and what they can and can't do. Brilliant riding.

VFR4Lee
They really have their procedures down for helping VIP cars through traffic. Don't think I'd want to ride in London. If the riding on the left is not confusing enough, look at those intersections.

ShadowJP88
Nice vids, that's cool to see how they work through the traffic. Having one leader and the others catching them I've found that a couple of days ago :http://superunleaded.com/spot-invisible-unmarked-police-bike/5831/ It show a bit more of the police pack bikes
Member Contributer Polarbear Posted August 1, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted August 1, 2015 Very interesting. But given that they are using their hands so much to signal other motorists, why wear the least visible color gloves-black?? Why not hi-viz gloves too to facilitate this? Just saying. That leader is such a steady leader. Impressive. And as mentioned before, yes, these intersections would make my head buzz for days... so much going on!! Thanks for posting, C
Member Contributer Skids Posted August 1, 2015 Author Member Contributer Share Posted August 1, 2015 So what is a vfr1200S? Does the S designate police special? -Dan It's not VFR1200S, it's meant to be VFR1200s but the site software does weird stuff with the title and capitalises when you don't want it and un-capitalises when you don't. Sorry.
Member Contributer MaxSwell Posted August 1, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted August 1, 2015 I love riding in city traffic as long as it's not hot. I'd love to have a job like that.

Member Contributer Egg on Leggs Posted August 6, 2015 Member Contributer Share Posted August 6, 2015 When I was a baby Firelighter I was a passenger in a fire service vehicle that was being escorted in convoy by police motorcyclists. I was truly amazed at the way they rode at speed into live junctions, unbelievable at the way they got away with it and still fresh in my mind 40 years later.
