What has been changed the last few years;

Front Discs

One of the front discs (Brembo) was warped.

I have send the set 2x to straighten but still they I wasn't happy about the result.

ISR Discs ordered and took out the brembo's

Rear shock

Spring was updated by Hyperpro in the past and new gas inside; sold the complete item

Brought the bike to the Dutch Importer of Bitubo; custom made rear shock was made by the factory and also they upgraded the front forks.

Mirrors

Light but unuseable; changed by VFR800Fi items (much heavier....)

Radiators

The new rads have almost 3x the capacity of the old radiator.

Also the waterpump was replaced in the past by an electric item and the termostat was removed.

I drove a couple of times without a fan but when driving slow the temperature became too hot.

Bought several fans (Fireblade, R1) and put them all on the bathroomscale. The item with the lowest weight has been added

Rear Seat

Rear seat (carbon-kevlar NC30/VFR400 item) cracked on several places.

Not strong enough; reinforced now

Fueltank

My Honda stopped a couple of times / running on just 3 or 2 cilinders...

carb jets had to be cleaned a couple of times... My fueltank is resistance against German Fuel, but Dutch not... (probably Ethanol)

Got a brand new tank from the manufacturer. :fing02:

Rear axle

The rear axle is a modified VFR400 part.

Found some Alloy parts to replace the much heavier steel items

It never rains in Holland...!!! :pinocchio:

Will use Braketech, Quote from their website:

Performance features include:

  • Not thermally sensitive (will work great on the street)
  • Ultra broad torque curve across a very wide thermal range
  • Much longer lasting than C/c
  • Much less expensive than C/c
  • Great wet weather performance - unlike C/c [not hygroscopic]
  • Terrific feel and feedback at the lever

"

Hope they do not :pinocchio:

I've heard that CF brakes are no good in the wet. Is that a concern in Holland?

Ceramic Matrix Composite brake discs are not the same animal as the carbon/carbon discs they use in MotoGP.

The Carbon/Carbon don't work well when cold or wet. That's why for wet races, they use steel discs in GP.

And the Carbon brakes they use in GP probably cost as much as a new car.

The Vif has Hyperplates: less rotating mass.

What I still need:

recent startmotor (1991 startmotor is really heavy)

starterclutch from a recent bike (weight)

coils integrated in the sparkplug cable (like the modern bikes)
