Thought I would post up a couple pics of the wife and I's maiden trip with the new bikes. We are just getting back into road trippin' after my venture into road racing (details in the welcome thread).

Went up to the town of Salmon in Northern Idaho. Perfect weather both days. Great hotel right on the river. Ice cold IPA in the bar/restaurant. 500 mile round trip was all so just a couple 250 mile days. Life is good!

Love the new VFR Grande version and my wife loves her "new to her" 6th gen.

Haven't done too much to the 2013 yet. Soon, very soon. I have lowered my wife's bike, she is only 5'1". And took the pipes off of my 2003 before I traded it in on the 2013 and put them on hers.

I also finally broke down got a Senna BT set up for us. After years of joking that if I wanted to hear her yap we would ride in the truck . These things are kinda cool.........so far

Now it's time to make plans for some big adventures.

Oh yeah, no bags for my bike yet. I ordered them, but when they came in they were blue. Should be in by the end of June.

The RWB and black look great together. I think I like the 7th g best in black. Nice pics!

Very nice. I need to get my wife and son out on some short day trips with me. We have talked about getting some kind of a communication system, we have had several rides where being able to talk to each other would have been a huge bonus.

Thanks for the comments. I am in total agreement on the black. It really makes the bike. It's a cool metallic that looks great in the right light. Like fluorescent garage lights while drinking beer!

On another note, the body work got hosed up by the freight monkeys when it was shipped up from Cali. Seems they missed the slots for the forks and started to pick the bike up inside the crate! Minor scratches on stuff, but lots of stuff. I took the bike while waiting for the replacement parts and they threw in the first service for free to make up for the trouble. Pretty cool. Plus, if Honda doesn't ask for the parts back they are going to give them to me. Bothe left and right side lower engine plasics, clutch case, stator case, left and right upper plastics. So I'm thinking a little custom paint work is in order if I get the parts. Bonus!

First impressions on the bike. Start with the bad.

I am hard to please when it comes to long distance seats. Not sure why, but I am. This seat sucks! But so has every other seat on every other bike I have owned. Ordered a Corbin and will give that a shot and if that doesn't work I will have a local guy I use start massaging it (the bike's seat, not mine!)

The bars are too low, got some Heli bars coming, which might help the seat also. Might roll me back on to my buns rather than sitting on my prostate, haha.

The shaft drive seems odd to me, having never owned a shaft drive before I guess I just notice things with it. Nothing really big and actually just different noises than I'm used to. Hard to be smooth with the shift from 1st to 2nd. It likes to have the clutch pulled all the way in to the grip with a split second before going to second, rather than just kissing the clutch to unload the gears, if that makes sense? This motor lugs like a tug boat, so I actually have gotten to where I do 2nd gear from stop signs. Way smoother and fun!

I opted for the Honda extended wind screen and right and left deflectors. Never done that before, always went with after market screens. They were put this week when they did the replacement plastics, so going to get done typing here, round up the wife and go put a few hundred miles on and see what I think of them. I looked all over to see what the wind screen would look like and couldn't find anything (I'm not the best searcher), so I was surprised to see what it was all about. Kinda ugly! But it adds to that layered thing Honda was going for with the fairings.

Enough with the bad. I love this bike so far. Great power, super usable from like 2000 rpm up. Roll it on, it is there. Handles really well. Honestly I like it better than my '03, it practically falls into corners, but isn't twitchy. I don't ride crazy on the street, but there are a few corners that lend them selves to lots of lean angle around here. Both peg feelers had to come off right away and the wear marks go to the edge of the tires. This bike is fun!

So after 1000 miles on her so far, I like it. Honda did a good job. Yeah it's another step away from the VFR racer heritage, but that's what they were trying for, IMHO.

Damn, my legs are asleep. Note to self, no more posting and pooping =)

Congrats on the new bike. Can't wait to her what you think of it once you've got it diled in.

And another +1 on the Sena -- riding buddy and I finally took the plunge, and so far, it's everything it's advertisied to be.

Raiders logo...I think he is referring to the black and silver colors?

Sweet bike BTW. Maybe you could try adjusting the clutch to get the action more toward the beginning instead of all the way to the bar?

+1 on the Senas. I have 'em, and I bought a set for my brother and his wife for birthdays. Simply awesome. Something to keep in mind, the little pins bend easily, especially if you remove the little box often.

Sena does have a two year warranty, and they did send me a new unit within a week and half. No complaints, but I now do not disconnect the flashing blue box from my helmet when I recharge.

And a little hint I learned on a ride this weekend, I'mm attaching a bluetooth doongle to my Escort 8500, and then pairing that to my Sena. I will finally be able to hear my detector!

I'm jealous that your wife rides too.

Nice trip write-up. Very cool to have a family set of VFRs.

Thanks for the review of your new 7th gen, too. The more I see them, the more I like them. Might end up with one someday myself.
