bluewaffle
what do you guys think of this combo? http://www.probolt-australia.com/stainless-steel/stainless-steel-bolts-and-washers-countersunk/stainless-steel-countersunk-bolt-m6-x-1-00mm-x-25mm.html#.VBk2Z_na58F http://www.probolt-australia.com/aluminium/aluminium-bolts-and-washers-countersunk/aluminium-countersunk-washer-m5-red.html#.VBk2xfna58E
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted September 17, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted September 17, 2014 a m6 bolt with a m5 washer?? (Note, I'm an accountant, not a techie....) I measured the pressure plate hole that accommodate the springs: 21mm The M5/M6 Probolt washers have a 19mm OD, leave 1mm "room" on either side The original bolts have a 16.7 mm washer, which has a little lateral play, so in effect has 2mm "room" on either side. I will let the technie's chip in to say if this is of concern or not. If not, what is the view on using the aluminum (comes in color) bolts? Too weak must use stainless? the holes themselves are 61mm "deep" But there is "only" 33mm thread; so no worries if bolts are a bit longer (I put in a M6 bolt with 40mm thread length and it "stopped" with 7mm to go)

Motographer
I'd definitely like to know when you have a new batch available. Lowsided and tore the hell out of my clutch cover today, so I'm in need of one that doesn't leak oil.
wera803
I'd definitely like to know when you have a new batch available. Lowsided and tore the hell out of my clutch cover today, so I'm in need of one that doesn't leak oil. Are you interested in one that is rashed, but does not leak to put on your bike until Seb can do another batch of window covers? You could send your broken one to him for the work and not have your bike down. PM me if you are interested.
SEBSPEED
Alternatively, I also fix broken & rashed covers without putting a window in. Have TIG, will weld... Rings are in limbo with no ETA right now, best I can offer at the moment is to fix a break.
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted September 25, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted September 25, 2014 Operation "Countersunk" Mwah..... The M3 torx with countersunk washers along the rim are a bit too large versus the size of the window frame methink..... I will probably go back to the M3's that Seb put in As for the spring bolts+washer, the dark blue Pro-Bolts were a larger diameter so I decided against them, went for black instead. with SS torx counter sunk... Am a bit underwhelmed.... so will keep an eye out for different washers... Put in new stronger springs in "on the house" Lever pull marginally stronger but I like the feel when accellerating
Veefer800Canuck
i thought you would go for blue........
Member Contributer Dutchy Posted September 25, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted September 25, 2014 The only -dark- blue countersunk washers I found are Pro-Bolt and they are 19mm diameter. As I wrote above, the OEM washers are <17mm and the holes in the pressure plate are 21mm. My black ones are 18mm; but the blue from that Mfrs are a light blue. Light as the bolts I had put on previously (and I donot like cos the blue is too light). As you can see, I do not have anything else to worry about in my life.... Motographer
Seb, I'll probably just get a new cover, keep my rashed one in reserve, and keep an eye out for you to get new rings in :)

Member Contributer zoomzoom Posted September 26, 2014 Member Contributer Share Posted September 26, 2014 Cool. I had actually seen those pictures but I thought for some reason your bike was a 6th gen given the undertail exhaust. Perhaps you have installed a 6th gen tail onyerbike?? Thanks for the link and YES, tha does look very cool. Might have to add that to the list of winter improvements. I think getting one of the DMr front fork kits may be required first however. Really like therapist scheme onyourbike to Veefer800.
