Seems the news is reporting that Contour the wearable camera company has shuttered its doors. I have an older HD unit, that no longer is supported. I guess I better be careful with it now.

A real shame. I thought the contour was a better product than the GoPro. Less distortion, better quality, not a square box in an even bigger square box.

Maybe grab a few while the deals are still out there.

It's like Beta vs. VHS, the better format didn't win, the one with the most adopters did

You're dating yourself, LOL. How about 8 track versus cassette?

Maybe there will be some aftermarket support?

More likely, it's time to buy a new camera when this one dies.

I have killed a gopro, a roam and a drift.

I liked the Contour Roam the best by far.

I assume the statute of limitations has passed. :goofy:

Could be worse - you might have chose a VIO POV.HD instead.

The camera head is cabled to a recorder unit/monitor. But it cost more and VIO seem to be on the ropes too.

Just peeked around a little bit. The Contour Roams have dropped in price a bit. Not firesale prices, but lower than they were.

If you do want something different than a GoPro, I did come across these other ones.

That's sad. I guess I'll have to take extra good care of mine.

I shot this one so high in the air, Burns had enough time to stop, put down his kickstand and almost field it for the pop up sacrifice. I did like this one.

OH SNAP!! See this often these days....companies that design and sell electronic products like this, either go belly up due to competition or another company buys them out. UGHH!! Contour did need to enhance or ad features which I think they were in the process of. I'm stunned that GoPro is king. IMO it's an ugly little box. It does record video well but it doesn't have the vibe and features of being a action camera like Contour. BUMMER!!

I just may go el cheapo on a camera next time. Why spend $300.00 on a company that's (in all likely hood) destin to fail?

Here's one at monoprice.com

I love the looks and specs on the Replay...it seems like the best one out there, but I am reluctant to spend $270 on something that may die an ugly, untimely death on the asphalt. I saw one of those Polaroids at Walmart the other day for $75 bucks...has anyone used one?

Almost bought a Contour Roam when they were $100, but the inability to change from stills to video without hooking up to a computer is crazy...

I found a video clip that has some of the Panasonics 120FPS shot in it. Starts around 0:44. The image actually looks really good, both normal stuff and the slow-mo. Nowhere near the distrortion the GoPros seem to have (at least the original and 2 did).
