In My Garage:

  1. Hi Everybody, I just purchased a 2007 RWB Interceptor with the factory bags and mounting kit. I learned only after trailering the bike home that I am missing key parts of the kit, including the spacers. I've downloaded the 3D print file from VFRD and I am researching where to have the spacers printed. Questions: 1. One company has asked for an approximate durometer spec for the OEM spacers to help them recommend a material. I certainly don't expect anyone can give me a durometer reading but perhaps some of you can describe how soft/hard/stiff/flexible the OEM spacers are? 2. The same company has suggested likely materials are: "ABS (what a Lego is made of), LDPE (low-density polypropylene) or maybe even Polypropylene (PP) but it tends to degrade under UV conditions. My bet is ABS." (I think ABS sounds too hard/inflexible). Anyone out there have an informed guess on this? Thanks to you all, Tarkus
  2. After witnessing my brother have a nasty crash on his bike this summer due to a neglectful driver, and is still in recovery, I've decided it's time for me to call it quits to riding on 2 wheels. That being said, I'm putting my 2006 VFR800 up for sale locally, and offering all aftermarket parts up for sale. Here's what I've got in terms of aftermarket parts. If you are interested in a black 2006 vfr800, feel free to PM me as well and we can work out a fair price. I hope to add pictures in the near future. If someone is interested in parts, PM me and that may get me out to get some pictures in a more timely fashion. Two Brothers Racing Carbon Black Edition Exhaust - $500 obo Corbin Gunfighter and Lady Saddle - $500 obo - Full Leather (most have vinyl side panels, but I convinced Corbin to make one that was full leather and I was very happy with the end result) MRA Smoke Windscreen - $60 obo - stock shape Givi D217S Windscreen - $75 obo Has spoiler lip to direct airflow over the helmet. Good for long trips Givi V35NA 34 Liter Monokey Side Cases - Black w/ Red Reflector - $500 obo Givi PLXR166 - V35 Rapid Release Sideframes - $200 obo - These are the quick release sideracks that come with a special key so the rack can be easily removed when not in use. Givi 166FZ - Monorack Sidearms & M5 Monokey plate - $125 obo 2002-2009 Smoke Front Turn Signals - $15 obo Thurn Motorsport License Plate Bracket - $50 obo I'm not firm on prices, however some of these parts are now hard to come by. If you see something posted at a lower price somewhere, feel free to send me a link, and if I think it's a fair deal, I'll match or beat the price. I'm in no hurry to sell though. All items are priced w/o shipping or paypal fees. If you would like to purchase multiple items, I'd be willing to make a deal. I can also accept cryptocurrency if preferred
  3. REDUCED PRICE: $6695.00 package deal You've heard it all before: marriage + baby = motorcycle for sale! I purchased this low-mileage beauty from a retired engineer several years back and find myself adding fewer and fewer miles each season – grand total on the odometer at this point is just under 8K miles. The Seventh Generation VFR is a technological marvel—offering supremely capable handling, all-day comfort, and a WHOLE LOTTA TORQUE in one very attractive package. I’ve owned three different generations of the Honda Interceptor, and this one really stands out as a great all-around bike. This excellent condition, freshly inspected (and adult-owned) cycle features the following accessories: DAM exhaust canister with removable baffles (handmade in the Netherlands—supreme quality, performance, and sound. Look them up!) OEM exhaust canister 3 windscreens (OEM, Zero-Gravity Double Bubble, Puig Racing) Matching OEM luggage (top case, side panniers, mounting system) – literally used one time! Extra seat (OEM) Cover Factory service manual Owner’s manual Front and rear Pit-Bull stands Located in the Rochester NY area. Local pick-up only. No rides. $6695.00 package deal
  4. Any one got images of how this Kappa Monokey Luggage Tubular Motorcycle Side Case Holders - KL257 go on the bike with the Givi 257FZ Monorack arms? I have bolts and spacers but no order of where they go 🙄
  5. Luggage now fitted and voltmeter with usb
  6. If any one is thinking about purchasing a Kriega US 30 for an eighth gen and was wondering about the size and appearance heres a couple of pics. Hope they help.
  7. My lovely wife wants to join me on a 9 day road trip for the first time since before kids (the oldest is 18). I have a 2014 standard VFR800 and I need to outfit it with saddlebags, a trunk, and a back rest but I cannot locate any pics. I'd rather buy used but... Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  8. I apologize if this has been covered, but I'm having difficulty finding answers about the VFR1200 trunk/top case. I ordered the OEM rear carrier hoping that I could install my Givi case, but they do not appear compatible. A few questions, if I may: 1. Is there an adapter plate that would allow install of a givi case on the OEM carrier? 2. Regarding the OEM trunk/top case, how does this mount to the carrier? I do not have an OEM top case to look at, and I'm having trouble picturing how it attaches. Is an adapter plate of some kind required here as well? (Photos of rear carrier/base plate and underside of OEM trunk would be appreciated) 3. I've read that a larger (45L instead of 31L) OEM trunk is available. Does anyone know where I may source one without paying an arm and a leg? 4. Are there any surprise duties/taxes/fees when ordering items from Europe from here in the States? Thank you in advance!
  9. Hey 5th Gen folks, Does anyone recognize the rear rack in the attached image? I'd like to learn what make/model it is. I like traveling with just a top case, and my Givi Wingracks are very clunky looking and overbuilt for non-saddlebag rides [The Wingracks are great when using the saddlebags, though]. The rack in this image has an attractive, simple design - perfect for a topcase-only trip. I'm envious of the 6th Gen guys and their externally accessible grabrail mount points - it's so much easier for them to bolt a simple rack on. [This image was originally posted by Auspanglish - I culled it from the puzzling, infamous, and strangely magnetic thread "Unleashing 5th Gen Factory Power + DMr + Thurn MS"]
  10. tl;dr - want hard luggage on, no grab handles. How do? First post ever. Short and sweet. I got a 2006 last year and it's been treating me very well. I got some OEM hard luggage from David Silver Spares (which is great by the way). But while reading the instructions, I noticed that the installation actually requires the passenger grab handles. Mine didn't come with them. Apparently they're also very difficult to find although I haven't trolled through this site too thoroughly yet. My local Honda dealer can get them for me, maybe, for a cool $275…so the question is: has anyone attached the luggage racks without the grab handles?
  11. So I'm looking at the underside of the passenger seat cowl - it has a great big void. I can easily store my wet weather gear under the seat itself, and it seems a waste to have that space available and not effectively use it. It would be a great place to store a second pair of gloves, or to put a wallet, phone, keys etc when on a day trip. I'm toying with the idea of finding, or getting made, a water resistant bag that can be installed under there to improve the effectiveness of the space for the likes of the above small items. Has anybody come across a commercial option, or tried to make one already? Would anyone be interested in one if such a thing was available?
  12. SO I bought shad mount for my vfr800(ebay) and a 46liter bestem case(Amazon) Installation was a breeze and the whole thing looks very stock. I had saddle bags before I installed the case, though they worked fine, but they kinda blocked the whole one side swing arm view of the bike. Top case is good trade off between practicality and looks. Costed 65+80 for total. I can but my laptop bag in without any problems. I can attach more photos if anyone wants any detail on any part of Installation.
  13. Gents, my OEM luggage is just sitting off the bike since I purchased it about 6 weeks ago. 2002 bike, not sure what year the luggage is, RED, with mounting hardware. I'm gonna list it in the classifieds, but I really have no clue what to ask. One case is an 8/10 and looks great, the other has a few surface blemishes and some light damage commensurate with age of bike. It's worth noting the bike had under 9000 miles on when I bought it, and I took the cases off immediately. I have a bunch of pics I'll post in the classifieds of course, but I know these things were out of bounds expensive when new. What's the going rate these days... Here's just a few basic pics. I just gave them a Optimum No Rinse wash, fresh clay bar treatment, Optimum Opti Clean, then Sonax Perfect finish AIO. Got much of the surface issues taken care of, but one box needs more polishing and it does have some light damage, as I mentioned. Anyway, looking for thoughts on real pricing, I'm not trying to rip anyone off, but would like fair market value of course. Thanks in advance...
  14. Hi, Can someone post a photo of Hondas OEM Top Box lock bracket (2002-2004 version) in a way I could see how spring fits into metal plate (center of the photo below)
  15. I have a low mile '97 and just picked up some Hepco and Becker racks for it. The instructions are in German without any diagrams, but how hard could it be? I didn't think there would be much of a problem mounting the racks, but I was wrong! The bike is 100% stock, but it seems like the exhaust is too high since the right side rack interferes with it. I hope the photos make sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated! PS - German instructions included for those that can read it 650158.0001-2.pdf
  16. I got the factory topcase with the bike, a surprisingly expensive option as you must buy the luggage rack, the adapter plate, and the case itself. It is nice that it keys to the bike, but on the small side for serious touring. I heard this was Givi made. Does any other topcase mate with the adapter? I'm willing to give up the key convienience for capacity on the long rides.
  17. After a few long road trips I noticed some small (1-2mm) stone chips on the lower fronts of my OEM side cases. This prompted me to haul my cases over to Lucas at TankSlapper.com (he's local) to get custom protective film cut for me. He designed a new template from this effort. I wanted to post this since this same custom cut Is now available to any 1200 owner with OEM cases that wants protection. The protection is for the leading edges, where chipping occurs, as well as the ara at the top where you may drag your boot across it as well. The templates are shown in black in the 1200 kit he offers. I'm thinking luvtoleanit would be all over this after his nice looking custom paint job! Wish I'd done it sooner. BTW, I'd make sure to ask for the Xpel film as it is made to be very smooth and virtually invisible. 3M film has a slight orange peel texture compared to the Xpel film, which is a slight bit noticeable once applied.
  18. I am looking in to ordering the Werkes GP slip-on, but does anyone out there know if it will work with the OEM panniers. I tried contacting the company but they were let's say, less than helpful with my inquiry. I use the panniers all the time and love them, so for me it would be a total deal breaker. Many thanks in advance.
  19. Hello! I just ordered a Garage Pro top case form JC Whitney. I am unsure what all I need to mount it. Do I just need the monorack sidearms or will I need anything else as well? Thanks in advance!
  20. Had a friend tell me about a small/midsize tank bag on ebay for $20. It doesn't say it is an Alpinestars, but you can see it on the zipper and on the rear of the bag in a few shots. They tried to photoshop it out for some reason, but it is visible in many pictures. Not posting any link per forum policy, but you can find it by searching for: New Black Oil Fuel Tank Bag Magnetic Motorcycle Motorbike Oil Fuel Tank Bag Here is one of the pictures showing the Alpinestars logo
  21. So I have decided next year to venture out of my comfort zone and do my first European tour. Going to look to start in Amsterdam and work my way south for a few days toward France and return back to the UK via rail before riding north for the final leg back to North Yorkshire. A good few days ride, but one I need to prepare for, fitting my VFR1200 DCT. Next summer at the earliest, since most of the upgrades are pretty costly. That in mind, I am looking for the biggest set of Givi side case(matte black) that I can fit on my bike, while having the stock exhaust. I want bigger than the V35. Mounting hardware(with part #s) and pics would be great help. Was probably going to do a Givi Maxia E55 for the top unless someone has a better idea. A set of Admore Lighting signals is also on the list. Also anyone who has any ideas on any particularly useful upgrades besides a gps to make the trip better would be helpful. Except for a set of Heli-bars the bike is stock. Thanks much for your input.
  22. my existing magnetic tank bag used to scratch my tank. Figured out a way to keep this in position. These guys bykebitz.co.uk sell the GIVI adapter separately. Paid about 60GBP abt 90 USD + shipping (could have got a new tank bag). the kit came with the tank ring, bag adapter and the necessary fitting screws. Positioning the adapter is critical - so it does not interferer with the handle bar movement and sitting. Tried to keep it centered on the bag. Chopped the tank bag magnetic ears ! The bag has a soft base, so it needed to be reinforced. Used a fiber (from a local bag repair shop). Made necessary holes on the bag. They had supplied a drill bit - since the bag is soft, used a punch. now to put it all together The bag now site about half an inch about the tank. Pretty secured. The fiber supports the base preventing it from sagging. need to be tested on load.
  23. So my trusty magnetic Wolfman will not work well on the new VFR, what tank bag are you kids using on the 1200?
